Description

The cold damp stones of the dark tunnel were vibrating with the deafening roar of the crowd outside as the gladiatrix slowly approached the gate that led into the arena.
While campaigning north of the Danube, the Emperor began hearing stories that seemed impossible to believe. Traveling further into the ancient and seemingly endless wilderness, his army found only an ominous stillness with no sign of the barbarian tribes that had been raiding across the Empire’s border. His army found villages, utterly destroyed in fashion that put his own army to shame. The survivors that were found were have mad, babbling incoherently about an enormous and unstoppable monster stalking the countryside. At last, the Emperor received a report that his scouts had found someone; a lone woman, unafraid of the force of arms wielded by his imperial calvary. She demanded an audience with the Emperor and she was brought before him in his tent. The two spoke long into the night. What was discussed and what the Emperor learned that night is only known by the the two of them and the gods but the next morning he declared the campaign successful. The army would travel back to Rome and with it the greatest of all treasures.
Since her arrival in Rome, this woman had been staying at the Imperial Palace without leaving its confines. Where the gladiatrix came from none could say for certain. The prevailing rumor was that she hailed from Scythia but in truth her homeland was anyone’s guess. The only thing that was for certain was that the Emperor had declared that her participation in today’s games in the Colosseum would be a spectacle that no one in Rome would ever forget.
