Description
While I do enjoy fanart/fanfiction, I also aspire to create my own original content! So that's largely why I haven't submitted anything new in the last two weeks; because I was contemplating how I could improve on what I'd started years ago. I went back to my Paradigm story I wrote several years back and reworked a lot of the characters and concepts, giving some of them updated designs and names. SO, here are some of those updated designs, and profiles for them. The character profiles start at the top left and go in clockwise order:*************
Charel Gwyllion
Charel lives with her guardian, an aging fae named Hobbes Freireghar, who adopted her after her parents were killed in a raid during the Great Fae War when she was an infant. She and Hobbes reside at the border between Eddaheim and Tellwyth Wood in one of the few fae tolerant communities remaining after the war. Charel is optimistic, energetic, and adventurous. She is openly friendly to new people, but can get incredibly competitive.
Charel grew up knowing she has metaphysical abilities, and Hobbes taught her how to harness these abilities to defend herself. Her specific paradigm allows her to distort space and gravity, which can have a wide range of effects including teleportation, powerful blows, superhuman acrobatics, and increased density. She's prone to anxiety, however, which can sometimes cause her powers to go out of control, leading some to believe that it might not be a normal paradigm.
Current Schemas: Parallax, Vector Strike
Amber Torainn
Somewhere in the metaphysical dimension exists the fortress known as Grand Cross, ruled over by the powerful Andrithel and his tutelary spirit, Hajmal. As one of the children of Andrithel, Amber grew up under strict rules and even stricter expectations. With one of the highest ratings on the Divinity Scale of any resident of Grand Cross, Amber has an exceptionally powerful paradigm and excelled in her training to apply it in combat. She wanted more than anything to use her abilities to bring justice to the untamed lands of Eddaheim; however her father's plans for her future only included remaining on Grand Cross to remain in service to him. She defied Andrithel's wishes, and left their dimension to travel to Eddaheim herself. Amber is haughty, pragmatic, and serious, oftentimes coming off as cold and ruthless. She's not really cold-hearted however, she just has trouble showing it; possibly a consequence of her own cold upbringing.
Her paradigm gives her control of electromotive, electrostatic, and electromagnetic forces. Related abilities include generating voltages, creating destructive arcs, and ionization.
Current Schemas: Arc Flash, Hole Flow
Tezra Calaby
Tezra is one of the Hyper-Zoners; humans whose paradigms allow them to traverse dimensional barriers. As such, they are largely in the employ of Andrithel in policing travel to and from Grand Cross. However, Tezra and her family were among those dissidents who wanted to remain unbound from any one realm and retain their freedom to explore dimensions. The rest of Grand-Cross's ruling caste wouldn't allow such freedom, however, and many were captured and imprisoned; Tezra's parents among them. She escaped by herself, and ended up on the world of Eddaheim. She is incredibly shy and quiet, due to a distrust of strangers. But incredibly caring once she finds someone she trusts.
Her specific paradigm, besides letting her cross separate planes of reality, allows her to borrow characteristics from other spatial dimensions, giving her a wide array of potential abilities. This specific ability made her of particular interest to the despotic forces of Andrithel, who continue to search for her.
Current Schemas: Tesseract, Manifold, Superstring
Mary Becquerre
Mary Becquerre, or Beq, as she's better known to her associates, was taught from a young age that paradigms were evil and dangerous. So when she found out she had one of her own, she denied its existence, repressing it. Eventually this internal conflict manifested in the form of a dual personality that retained control of the paradigm, creating a rare and exceedingly dangerous form of paradigm known as an Alter-Id. This version of Beq would surface in times of great stress and anxiety, transforming her into her fearsome horned persona who refers to herself simply as 'Scales'.
Abandoned by her parents after they discovered her true nature, she resorted to a life of gang violence to get by. While this did help her come to terms with her true nature somewhat, it would also provide her with an additional sense of shame, even after leaving the gang life. She now resides in Eddaheim at the lab of Dr. Vickson, a scientist studying different types of paradigms.
Beq's paradigm allows her to absorb almost any type of energy and convert it within her body for use in her control of nuclear interactions and atomic decay. The most prominent use of this is when she assumes her Scales persona, transmuting her own form to appear like a sharp-scaled oni. In this form she has vastly increased strength and durability, as well as generating intense heat. She loses much of her inhibitions, however, and gives into unconscious desires and anger. Even when outside this form she exhibits incredible strength. She's also shown the ability to manipulate spirit-fire, though it's unknown if this is a part of her natural paradigm, a result of her Alter-Id, or something different entirely.

************
I started developing this world somewhat a few years back when I wrote my first story about it, but I think it required a revamp. For now I'll attempt to clarify some of the things I introduced then, as well as some new things. In this context, humans reside in a world inhabited by fae creatures (which are earth and nature based) and divine creatures (which are more cosmic and heavenly based). Humans themselves can have a spiritual affinity toward one or the other which is typically measured on the Divinity Scale. But those humans with a strong enough spirit can actually affect the world around them. Each person can have unique abilities, but they tend to follow a pattern based on that person's personality, known as a paradigm.
There are those who've trained themselves to hone their paradigms into specialized skills, called schemas. Schemas allow a paradigm user to use their abilities to accomplish specific tasks, from things like teleportation and firing lightning bolts to heating a stove. Speaking a schema aloud is generally the easiest way for green paradigm users to utilize them, though after years of practice it tends to no longer be necessary.

Took quite a while for me to draw this. I got a bunch of new markers and I spent a lot of time figuring them out, but I think they work like a charm. I hope y'all take an interest in my OCs, because I hope to do some interesting things with them. And, you know, tie them up a lot. :3
