Description
Flame StudyIn part of learning to paint digitally, and wanting to make a painted version of this drawing, I had to study how to do flames. This is way before the Feanor and Gothmog art [link] , so the flames here are the basic smudge and layering effects

eventually the whole artwork (pencils) got Marvel's attention, and they decided to have it as an inventory cover... only God knows when it'll see print
I haven't posted the finished painted version anywhere yet...

The flames look really good. This as a whole reminds me of Alex Ross's Human Torch from Marvels, but it's different enough to be unique. Very cool.
