Description This picture may need some explaining. First, we all know that Morgan never had a pet. In my stories, however, she is quite fond of doberman pinschers. Like her father before her, she names them after prominent Roman historical figures. She also spends quite a bit training them, and they are schooled in German commands. As she lives alone, they offer quite a bit of protection in her townhouse.

I ran across a science fiction cover the other day with two people on it, and it had a doberman as well. I quickly doodled a sketch, which was quite different looking than the canon Morgan, and I really liked it - this is where I came up with the shape of the face, and the eyes I have here. And it was in my own style. Once I did the sketch, I knew I had to make this a project. Different, but kind of fun.

Morgan is the property of Matt Groening.

A Doberman Pinscher - how apropos.  I can see a woman like Morgan having a pack of these intimidating and potentially lethal dogs in and around her property.  Nevertheless, this is a very nice portrait of a Dobie.  My ex-girlfriend, one Vicki Alford, had a beautiful red Doberman named Jake who, despite his size and appearance, was the most gentile and affectionate dog you'd want to meet.  I also liked the fact that Morgan named her dogs after ancient Roman historical personalities.  And I chuckled at Dynamoe's notion about Morgan having a Dobie named Caligula.  I can think of worse Romans to name one's dog after, like Nero or Diocletian or Julian the Apostate or even Elagabalus.  Anyhow, it's good to have you back in action on DA again, good buddy.  Well done.

Thanks! The dog is an interesting story. I couldn't see her as a cat person, and definitely not a gal with a little yap dog. She wouldn't have several of them, but just one - literally like a family member. And she would talk to it sweetly, scratching its head and neck. But it definitely has value as protection, as she lives alone. The whole thing about her training it with German commands just fit - in my one story she tells it, "Komm - mach schell." Nancy had one of these things before I met her, and it was really gentle. Hell, I might even have one, if not for the lack of a fenced in yard. I'd rather have one of these guys than a gun; alas, I do have one of those. BTW, yesterday morning an idiot on the east side of Indy broke into an apartment - he paid for this stupid act with his life. Police ruled it a justified homicide. Some days it just doesn't pay to be a thieving scumbag.

I'm working on the next one - think Pulp Fiction.

You're quite welcome.  As dogs go, I prefer German shepherds which, sadly, I cannot have since I live in a small apartment, plus my lease has a no-pet clause.  As for the lowlife who got shot trying to break into somebody's apartment, I say good for the apartment dweller(s).  That thieving scum got just what he deserved.  As for your next artwork, are you referring to the movie "Pulp Fiction," or to a magazine cover?

The movie. I was watching scenes from it the other day at work, and I just had to do something based on the ending of the movie.

While I myself am not a fan of so-called "grindhouse" movies like "Pulp Fiction," I'm sure your version will be a good one.

Raised from a pup, no doubt. It'd make the paperwork simpler.

Good looking dog. Although you don't draw animals all that often, you have it in your repertoire.

Yeah...and you got to read about Augustus, and later in her life she had Marcus...

I hope she doesn't have one named Caligula!

If she did, it would be quite an embarrassment to any house guests she might have...

It's something that's never spoken about in polite company...the dog had to be put down.
