O YOU SO LOVE, WORDS CAN NOT DESCRIBE THIS.

I've always been able to go as far as the lineart stage, but ended up at a complete loss as to how to go about filing in the shadows and stuff, AND YOU JUST DESCRIBED IT IN A NEAT LITTLE TUTORIAL ALL IN ONE PACKAGE.

I am just like ready to break out of my art obstacles and start scribblin' shit. Kinda like how people in olden movies break out in song, BETTER START BREAKING OUT IN ART LIKE TINY LITTLE PIMPLES.

Every stage of the process has been brilliantly explained, if not in the pictures themselves, then the descriptions beside it without going into an insane amount of detail as to draw each object. I realize this is not a tutorial for beginners, which is EXACTLY what an intermediate like me needed. Even though it was an explanation of process rather than tutorial, I learned a lot, just by looking and reading each step, compelling me to analyze each step and figure out how things were done as I scrolled down along.

Incredible!!! O A O I was expecting you to teach me how to fill in the shadows... Or rather, where to fill in the shadow. I'm really clueless, especially when it comes to black clothes with somewhat shiny texture like Lavi's uniform. Shadows on clothes are complicated... *sobs*
So, how do you determine the shadow on the clothes when the clothes is black?

Thank you for the comment, please excuse the uber late reply >_>
That was a good question (its a hard one for me too! ;-; ) I mostly based it on, feeling and references. Though first thing to have to know is where the light source come from, that will determine how many amount of whites as its nearer and black as it gets away from or 'covered' by things. A bump on shiny clothes most likely be lighter than creases...wow i wrote a lot orz...hope that helps for now

You have taught me all about layers! I was having a reeaallyy long Reply conversation with on her Imagination deviation about stuff and at the end we were talking about how I still don't understand layers after 5 years.
I'm a traditional artist, you see.
Now that I have read this, I finally see why layers are so popular! You're the first person to explain it to me in a way that made it actually seem more useful to have than not have! I still won't be using any layers, in anything I do, but I finally understand digital artists! Now I know you're not crazy for using layers, thanks to your explanation!

I didn't learn anything useful to me about drawing though ._. ... But I understand digital artists now!

It has been always rough for me to find good references and good tutorials.
It also appeared, that I have pretty much problems with doing shadows and everything in pictures,
that are only black and white.
So, thank you for this great tutorial, which really helped me a lot, even though I will have to look
up some of the words, cause I'm german.

nevertheless the picture Bookman Jr. seems now even more awesome to me.
Hope to she next some perspective tutorial from you ;D
