Hey everyone,

So hey I've had a problem here. You all know that not only is Owen the administrator (controller) of the Vort 9 station, but she's also a weapons designer for the Irken military. At least this was how she started out. But as some of you newcomers don't know, she and Plink were originally going to be villain characters too!

Since you've all seen by now that Owen doesn't have a mean or cruel bone in her body you can probably imagine that I've found it rather hard to show her actually at work and actually being happy with it. I mean Owens' a smart girl, don't get me wrong, she defiantly foresees all of the death and destruction her devices go on to cause. The most logical answer is that she tries her hardest not to think about it and acknowledges that it's simply her place in the empire and her duty.

So what is this? A new idea of course, this is Owen's first attempted military contract, something affectionately called 'roject Mercy,' it consists of a whole line of non-lethal weapons designed for Irk's military units in operation in Impending Doom 2. Sadly as you see here, most of them are designed TO be nonlethal.. but as you know the Irkens.. they probably WONT be.. but it'll help Owen get sleep at night knowing she tried.

So the first new weapon in Project Mercy is the classic Shrink Ray, although not a new idea this as been redesigned and built to withstand the dirty, abusive, and mechanically testing conditions of war.

Here's something interesting you probably didn't know about Nex-Kel's job. That's right, Vortian lab assistants get to have the exciting job of test subject. Though at what point of development of a weapon does the poor Vortian have to be a test subject depends soley on the Irken in charge.

Owen on the other hand is good friends with Nex-Kel and would gladly not use her as a test subject if the dang people in charge over her would send her something other to work with. So again Owen gets by, not using Nex-Kel for any testing until the very very VERY last stages of development when all she needs is final conformation that the weapon works on biologically humanoid targets and not just meat samples or other non-living specimens.

So as you can see, lucky for Nex-Kel the Shrink Ray worked without any physical or mental defects.. even luckier for her that the effect is temporary. XD
