No, not sad. "A growing way" is appropriate to what you see here. It's my opinion that one does not have to show a smile to indicate happiness.
Privacy and thoughtfulness can show happiness just as well.
It looks like you've looked at many if not all of what I've offered to show of my work. And I thank you for that. And how many of my portraits do you see where I paint a smile?

AFter the lighting, I notice the expressiveness of the figure and face. Is she sad, lonely, has she been sent to the corner as a punishment to think about something she's done? Beautifully rendered.
