You hurtle back through the woods, stopping short of your house, and wrench one of the mushrooms from its place on a decaying tree. Then, you give that polypore the what-for. It is indeed incredibly tough and tastes like cardboard-dirt, but you rend a chunk free and swallow because you’re your own boss and nobody else.
