As she got older, Candy of course began to develop mentally. Being very empathetic, she started to understand the way emotions worked better and pick up on them easier. One thing she noticed that she hadn't when she was younger was some of the loons hanging around were really actually sad. Like, not just sad for a little bit. It was constant and some looked like they were trying to hide it. The first activity of this sort she picked up on came from Geko. She didn't understand it that well, but she knew she didn't like it one bit. Thus, she "adopted" him. This guy wasn't going to be lonely or upset on her watch, no way. She did all she could to help him and it became a catastrophe to her if she slipped and he started to creep back into that sadness again.
