The adventure was less fun and games when they reached the territory of the beast that had attacked the first group. The four of them were determined not to get caught by it and spent the better part of a day creeping around trees and sending a scout up ahead. Regardless of their caution, the monster was on the prowl and would surely find them. In searching for a place to hide from it, Crumb found a hollow beneath a large tree. While they were trapped, the loons decided to begin digging a tunnel below the hazardous area. Of course, there was no way they could complete it on their own. Once the coast was clear, they left a sign behind for future travelers
