The first sculpture, that has since sparked my style of sculpting. This scultpure was done with 3mm plexiglass instead of the more recent ones that use 5mm. What I personally love about this sculpture are the triangles that are cut out of the pyramid walls, create a mixture of contours and negative space. A neat effect that to me was was unexpected was how the tip of the pyramid is dimmer than the base, making it seem as though the pyramid is fading away. The brightness of the base makes it seem seem as though the skulpture is floating on a platform of pure light. I am pleased with the fact that some of the flaws in the plexiglass, from using hand tools, do not show when the skulpture is lit up. I call this piece "Perfectionists Place" because I got the idea, from Erich Baumann's piece called "Wizard's Place" which was a series of cubes that house one light bulb. I simplified the idea and cut out triangles instead of squares. The only thing I would like to be able to change on this sculpture would be to make it out of 5mm plexiglass instead of 3mm because I feel it would look more effective.
