Why does the weeping willow weep
And bow her head, so her hair sweeps her feet?
It's a story so old it's almost forgotten
It starts with a wizard named Bane
His power strong and his soul rotten

Bane lived in a forest all alone
And one day came a girl who had lost her way home
Bane knew that a beauty in these woods was not a rare chance
But even so for him it was lust at first glance

She had a spirit that made her green eyes glow
And when Bane looked at her
The magic whispered…
Willow

But although Willow was kind of heart
A life with Bane she would take no part
For not only was Bane a monstrous creature
But Willow was in love with the heroic Peter

Bane locked her in a room
Said "rest up for later"
But Willow had a magic ring,
Which sent a silent call for a savior

Well very soon after Peter came along
And fought for his love
But Bane's magic was to strong

"Don't hurt him!"
Screamed willow in desperation
"I swear when I'm done he can travel the nation"

Willow could only watch as Peter screamed
Feathers poked through his skin
And forward he leaned
He choked on the beak becoming his mouth
And shrunk smaller and smaller
His head pointed south

"Now this spell," Bane laughed
"Is easy to break
Your kiss on his beak is all it will take"

But before she could move to take one unsure step
Her feet sunk in the ground
And her heart could just pound
She shot up to the sky
Oh she thought she would die
And her feet could not move
And the fresh bark on her skin she could not remove

Willow swayed and she fought but to no avail
A tree she became
With no hope to assail
The evil Bane

And every day, to this day Peter the crow
Brings one red rose
To his love willow
And each day till that moment
The willow tree weeps
