(Now I know its said that Ultra-Metallo from the original Amalgam Super Soldier was also a mashup of Ultron and Metallo but it just works and the character there seemed more like a DC mashup of Metallo and Ultrahumanite).

When roboticist John Pym was in a terrible car accident that left him slowly dying and paralysed below the waist he began to design an AI he called Metallotron to help him design a robot body he could transfer his consciousness to. What Pym didn't realise was how quickly the AI would adapt and evolve. Eventually it tricked him into merging his knowledge and memories with its own mind and transfer that entity to a powerful robotic body that was fuelled by Kryptanium, the strongest substance known and the only thing that could permanently harm Thor-El who, taking Pym's secret jealousy of the hero, Metallotron decided to destroy.
