Description
yes, those are painted flames on the ridge behind the bridge. the ship had a little run in with a Q and ever since then, no matter how may times they scour that bulkhead or even replace it with new panels, the flames come back. the Science Office is convinced that Q comes back when everyone is sleeping and repaints the damn thing. when fellow crew members try and explain the logistics of the shift roster system, the beleaguered officer grabs her bottle of Deltan vodka and sulks in her cabin.luckily, time seems to be the only thing that seems to have any effect and after twenty years since that fateful day, the paint is half faded.

A new TMP era ship designed and created not by a studio but by an artists is always something to look forward too. The ship is clearly not a combat vessel which is also refreshing and a nice change from the cruisers and other starships that focus on more weaponry, making it stand out.
The plating and light sources are indeed topnotch and help make this ship stand out some more. I am really looking forward to see what you will do next.
My only small nitpick is the inisgnia/hullnumbers which look a bit to clean. You might have wanted to add some weathering to them by using a fuzzy brush and remove some of the text so it looks like it weathered since its last refit.
That being said this is the only nitpick and I am wondering what you will do more with this design. Keep it up!

I'd love to see some close shots of this ship. Nice work and I agree with HandOfManos, it's nice to see some vessels other than warships dripping in phaser banks and torpedo tubes. Great job!

okalee dokalee! more pics coming...
and, yeah, i'm thinking Starfleet's all about peace and exploration, right? and 90% of the fan-designed ships have enough armament to make a Klingon remark, "now, now young sir...i think that's quite enough!"

I very much like the merged saucer and engineering hull, a la Bonaventure; and the surface texturing is good. The only thing that doesn't quite gel for me is the nacelles. They look too awkward sticking out like that. Perhaps following the design of the Bonaventure, raise them/lower them off the centreline and attaching the pylons directly to the submerged engineering hull?

ahhh...but there be surprises! the nacelles are retractable! once i've finished the interiors of the shuttle and cargo bay, i'll post pics!

The Bonaventure is what the NX-01 should have looked like... it's a great design, there's nothing wrong with arriving at a great design independently.

This would be an appropriate class of ship to bare the name "USS Audie Murphy".
