Fiction: Alexandria, VA, December, 1975. Upon receiving a cordial invitation from Lauren, a 20-something receptionist, at his school to take up karate at the Coss Karate School, the self-professed "Dojo with a Twist", on Saturday mornings, seven-year-old EJ, clad in a clean and well-ironed karate gi, enters the hall and sees a lithe and beautiful young woman twisting her limbs to get ready for the afternoon. Much to his surprise, the friendly young woman looked up, revealing herself to be Lauren, the receptionist at EJ's school!
