Akira was what you would call an "otaku." She loved anime on a level that most people would consider abnormal, and she spent as much time as she could watching it. However, her favorite series was Soul Eater. She had seen all 51 episodes, read the entire manga, and even delved into spin-offs like Soul Eater Not! (that one was a mistake). One of her main reasons for loving the franchise as much as she did was Death the Kid. He was a handsome and powerful young man who was the son of Death himself. He also had his flaws, such as a desire for everything to be perfectly symmetrical. To Akira, Death the Kid was someone she would actually marry...if he was real anyway.

One night, after staying up late to rewatch the series' second season, she plopped down on her bed, tired and wanting to sleep more than anything else. But a certain shooting star that had seen her innermost desires had other plans. Akira began to feel a strange sensation throughout her body, as if it was morphing into something else. Her figure became more masculine and rigid as her nightgown morphed into Death the Kid's signature black-and-white suit. Her hair retracted into a short black cut with white streaks covering one set of her bangs.
