I don't think she gets invited as much as she's allowed to go because she's friends with the Mane6. If she were homeless she'd have plenty of time to do so (and until the canon proves otherwise, IF it proves otherwise, you can't use Time Turner as an explanation.

Going by the show alone, she really doesn't hang out with the mane 6. She works with RD from time to time, but they don't seem like friends, exactly. She has her own life and her own adventures, like every other pony.
