Description
I think that mindset is complete and utter bullshit. In the end, who's not going to Hell? You're supposed to be nice and kind, like they told you to be, right? Not spiteful little bitches that say everyone is going to hell for not thinking like you. Hell doesn't even exist and if it does, then I'd rather hang out with Lucifer than god.
What else should I add to this, guys?
EDIT: People who can't read: nowhere did I state this came from the Bible and nowhere did I state that all religious people think this way. You silly, illiterate people. c:

What's hilarious (and also kind of sad) is that many religions teach us to be tolerant above all else, yet so few strong speakers of religion follow this rule. As a Christian myself, I've learned that forcing your ideals onto people who don't agree with them not only pushes them farther away from religion, but gives those who are religious a bad name. Tolerance is one of the ten commandments (which, if you don't know, is basically like the top ten rules to live by for Christians), Love thy Neighbor. So basically, all those pushy nutcases who say you are going to hell are, according to their own rules, going to hell themselves. That's something to brew on, isn't it?
And anyway, I don't really think God just goes around banishing people to hell because they broke a few rules. I believe that if you're a genuinely good person who is sorry for the bad things that they've done, you're okay in His book.

I'm Christian and I think it's stupid that some Christians actually believe all this and that some people assume all Christians are like this. We can't KNOW what God really meant with all the stuff in the Bible. Chances are it was misinterpreted or wording was changed for political use or other intents.
I think people taking the Bible word for word is wrong. It's a product of time period and the political leaders and the strict laws in place then.
Not meaning to start an argument. Just had to get this out there.

True...
But I would even include "Murder someone? You're going to hell" Because even if you did something horrendous like that, do you really deserve to suffer for all of eternity for something you did during a short mortal life where you probably had a crappy upbringing or mental issues, etc.? It's absolutely ridiculous. Whenever anyone says ANYONE deserves to go to hell, I feel horrified.

Excuse me? I said they don't deserve ETERNAL punishment for something they did during their mortal life. I didn't say they weren't responsible? Who's the moron?
Mortal crimes deserve mortal punishment (i.e. jail, death penalty, etc. NOT hell)

By that logic, you're assuming people are being pusnished when they die, which can't be proved.
We're not saying people are not responsible for their acts, but can you imagine for a second being eternally tortured, suffering until the end of times? I don't know what you think, but to me, that sounds as creepy as Hitler's idea of the perfect race (because, only 'perfect' people would go to Heaven), or rapists commiting a crime without feeling any guilt.

Well if "God" or "god" whichever you prefer (i believe in Yahuwah that which most call "God") made us then doesn't he have a right to do with us whatever he pleases? If he wants to send us to hell or heaven or wherever it is we go if anywhere after we die he kinda has that right do to so since he created us dont you think? He gives you choice follow his ways or follow yourself, and there will be a price to pay whether its "hell" or eternal punishment ect no one really knows. Only he can judge no one else. Not me not you not and most certainly not those so called "christians" but hey dont you worry yourself about it we will all find out what really happens when our time comes

Saturneidae In reply to WizardMorticia [2012-03-28 07:46:03 +0000 UTC]
Well, it would be a little contradictory if God called himself "loving" if he did whatever he wanted with us, specially making us suffer for the rest of the eternity, don't you think? He is omnipotent, this means he can actually do anything he pleases, but how could you possibly think of creating living beings if you're going to punish some of them eternally? That doesn't sound like a loving god at all to me.
Anyways, I agree with you when you say "but nobody knows, until the time comes". In the meantime, I'll keep living my life the most correct way I can (us humans are not perfect after all) and treating others as I want to be treated

WizardMorticia In reply to Saturneidae [2012-03-28 08:29:48 +0000 UTC]
He doesn't want to but darkness and light cannot be together thats why he gave a choice. In the end the only person responsible is you. You chose to go against him and he gives you what you wish a life without him. You cant expect to be allowed to eat from his table and from the table of demons.
Thats all we can do i suppose.
π: 0 β©: 1
Saturneidae In reply to WizardMorticia [2012-03-28 08:43:08 +0000 UTC]
But if you think about it, at least in my opinion, a perfect god should 'include' both light and darkness. Because, if you refer to God as THE light, then, there must be something considered as the not-God, the darkness. By this logic, God can't do anything (because he already would if he could) to remove darkness once and for all. This'll mean God is not God, because he's only the 'good', but 'bad' does still exist.
That's my other point. People say "God gave us the choice", but the choice to what? The illusion of freedom, that is. We are told to have a free will; to be able to choose how we want to live our lifes. Yet, in the end, the only 'correct answer' is God's way. Imagine a teacher who hands out a test with one single question. He tells his students "you have four answers, A B C and D. You can choose any answer you want, but in the end only the ones who chose B are going to pass the exam". It's the same concept.

WizardMorticia In reply to Saturneidae [2012-03-28 08:49:12 +0000 UTC]
That sounds like baphomet to me. If you dont know who that is it was the "god" the templars worshiped and its a very twisted idea.
Well if all the answers were correct then it wouldnt be a test now would it? As i recall you can fail a test. Think of this life as a test you can pass or fail.
π: 0 β©: 1
Saturneidae In reply to WizardMorticia [2012-03-28 09:03:24 +0000 UTC]
Ah, yes. I recall reading something about Baphomet.
But, the difference is you already know the correct answer of the test. As I said before, it's only an illusion of giving us a choice. In the end, if we fail the test is because we wanted to. We must choose between doing what we want (where, in the end, we'll always fail) or doing what God wants (therefore, we are not free).
And also this question comes to me: why do we need to pass or fail this life test? As I mentioned before with Hitler's example (but not wanting to sound offensive with the comparison) is God trying to get rid of the non-believer/rebel humans to build a perfect Heaven? That'd be even more twisted.

WizardMorticia In reply to Saturneidae [2012-03-28 09:23:18 +0000 UTC]
Its still choice you have to want to serve him you cant be made to.
Well yes sinning is rebellion against Yahuwah as the devil/Lucifer/satan/ect did by trying to take over and was thrown out of heaven. No he isn't. Only his flock/lamb/bride/followers will come to him and it says he wont even lose a single one so that means all the others are going to go with their master. So he doesn't have to "get rid of them" since he isn't their master so they cant go with him. I'm not one of those people that try and "convert" others. You all have your paths and will follow them to the end whether your with Yah or Satan that's just all there is to it. I have enjoyed our conversation I don't get to talk about such things to others very often so I thank you for such a chance

Saturneidae In reply to WizardMorticia [2012-03-29 04:44:22 +0000 UTC]
The thing here might be that the concepts free will with freedom are being confused. The difference is that a free person can choose from several options that suits them best or it's within their reach. But that does not mean they have free will, because the fact that that they can only chose what is good for them eliminates this supposed free will.
They have not chosen something with freedom at it fullest, because this person was conditioned by the circumstances. Imagine this example: A man from a poor social class is going to celebrate their wedding anniversary with his wife. She asked to choose between two options: take her to dinner at a local restaurant or take her to dinner at a restaurant in Paris. The man will of course pick the first choice. He has the freedom to do this because nobody forced him to decide it this way, although he would probably liked to go to Paris instead. He had the freedom to choose between the options his wife offered to him, but the economical circumstances forced him to make only one decision. Thus, we can say he didn't have free will.
After reading Deuteronomy 28 and assuming you belive God exists, which option will you choose, to be with or against God, and why? God is pretty much forcing people to serve him with this list of horrors. This is why I'm saying free will is only 'the illusion' of freedom.
I thank you too for the conversation. Same as you, I'm not here to convince anybody of anything, because even I could be wrong at some point. I just like talking to other people to share different opinions.
