Description Orion’s eyes turned dark and he gazed unwavering into Corbin’s eyes. “You would have killed yourself if I had not stepped down. I broke the laws of heaven in coming here.”

“Why did you do it? I’m not really worth saving.” Corbin, still on the floor, looked down in shame.

Orion sighed and sat down in front of him. “It is for that reason exactly that I needed to save you. You do not believe that your life is worth anything. You are wrong.” Orion paused and Corbin stared at the angel who looked unnatural and out of place here. He saw past the old wrinkled clothes and messy hair and it struck him how very real he was. If Corbin squinted a little and focused hard enough, he could almost see the pearly wings folded behind Orion’s shoulders. This was a real angel who, without even knowing him, cared about him enough to save him, even if it meant that he would be punished by God for doing it.
