I was working on the hull and doing some planning for some other features when I decided that Avenger was going to need new, big turrets. She's a brand new design for the Alliance and as such, she was going to be running around with some state-of the art weapons and equipment. So, here's one of my new heavy turrets for her. I found some inspiration here and there on DA and rolled with it. Each turret packs 3 Class 9 Particle Canons (PCs for short.) A more advanced version of some of the big guns on the Victory. In fact, the four guns mounted inboard on the Victory's bow are Class 9s. Each turret has it's own targeting suite and they're all interlinked for fire coordination and, if necessary, redundancy. Each is also mounted with a light shield generator and 1 or 2 CIWS (Close-In Weapon System) batteries.
