In less than 24 hours the U.S.S. Avenger will be leaving her berth to begin her initial shakedown cruise. Shuttles and cargo sleds are transferring last minute supplies and personnel while engineering teams sweep the ship with a fine toothed comb for anything out of place. While Avenger undergoes final prep she has four sisters currently in various stages of construction. To Avenger's low starboard quarter, the U.S.S. Vigilant BB-2. Vigilant began construction two weeks after the Avenger's "keel" was laid. She is currently in the final stages of her fitting out and will be launching on schedule in two-weeks. Normally, the lead ship would be completed and undergo testing before more of the same class would be constructed. However, confidence in the design and the need for these ships outweighed the risks. Low to Avenger's port-quarter is the U.S.S. Prometheus BB-3. The two remaining ships have yet to be christened. By the end of the war in 2497 only 62 Avenger Class battleships will enter service.
