A/N: This is a request for a one lovely RainCloud007 , who so politely asked. Thank you, and sorry about the wait! My provider locked me out of dA for quite some time.

Gotham was a beautiful city at night. Even with all it's faults you couldn't help but admire it, shining proudly in the dark sky. Pulling out your camera, you snapped a picture of the beautiful skyline before sitting on the edge of the building you had climbed.
Sometimes it's nice to sit back and watch the world go by. You were simply an observer, watching things happen, and taking pictures of these happenings. You'd take pictures of anything you thought was worth documenting. After getting some great pictures, you hauled yourself up and set out to complete you main task. To find him.
You padded down the long, tiresome fire escape and settled at the base. It was a a few feet from the ground, giving you a good vantage point, and it was nestled in the corner of two buildings.
A thick, smoky breeze wafted past your insulated body as you perched on the fire escape. Gotham's air was always dense and uncomfortable in the lower parts of the city, but you were willing to endure the torture if it meant you saw him.
And by him, you meant the Batman.
You wanted a photograph of the mysterious vigilante. Nobody even believed he existed yet, especially the GCPD. Imagine how much the papers would pay for a picture! Not to mention the exposure it would bring to your photography career.
"There is no such thing as a Bat man" Commissioner Gordon had said so confidently on the Gotham City News. You wanted to prove him wrong.
There was a Batman, you just knew it. And you were going to be the one to prove it.
So you sat patiently in the shadows, watching one of the shadiest alleys in all of Gotham, hoping that some small crime would lead Batman to your location. You hung your camera on your neck while you pulled out a flask of (favourite hot beverage) to keep your body warm.
At this point you wondered how wildlife photographers kept it together. All this sitting around and waiting. It was so incredibly boring.
You went to take a sip of your drink when you heard faint footsteps heading toward the alley. Quickly screwing the lid back on your flask and retreating further into the shadows, you waited to see who came up the alley.
“Have you heard about this bat thingamajig?” A cold voice asked. He had a heavy Gotham accent.
“What, the Batman? Oh yeah, everyone has.” Another voice replied. This one was rougher, but still with the harsh Gotham accent.
The two men rounded the corner and headed up the alley. They were dressed as roughly as their voices, with silly little knit hats to top it off.
“Some say he’s a monster. Some say he has big, black wings and huge claws. I don’t wanna meet him anytime soon.”
“Get it together. It’s all a myth made up by the police to keep us off the streets.”
“But if it is a myth, why did Gordon say there was no such thing?”
“Cause…I dunno, he don’t wanna look like he’s involved with thugs. How am I supposed to know what goes through his tiny brain?” The rough voice snapped.
“I’m telling ya, this thing is real. My friend Larry says his guy saw him. Broke one of his guys arms! Knocked another guys teeth out!”
“Jeezus Christ, get a grip. He’s not real. I don’t wanna hear another word about no bat creature! Capiche?”
“Alright, alright.”
The two characters settled by a large dumpster, lit some cigarettes and just stood there smoking. Your only possible way of getting a picture of Batman seemed to have fizzled out for the moment. Damn.
You shifted slightly on the metal fire escape, attempting to get a little more comfortable for what was likely going to be a long night, when life decided to throw you a very large, very sour lemon.
The metal creaked. Loudly.
“Eh Larry, did you hear that?” The softer voice asked his cynical compatriot.
“I didn’t hear nuthin’.” He growled.
“Well I did! Someone….some…thing is hiding over there. I heard it move. Oh god, it’s probably the bat!” he cried, the fear in his voice rising.
"Shut up! Its probably just a cat or something."
"No way can a cat make that sorta noise!"
"Alright, come on. I'll prove it." He said gruffly, puffing smoke from his cigarette and heading towards you. His accomplice pulled out a handgun and loaded it. You begun to panic, and immediately started looking for some sort of escape, yet nothing presented itself to you.
You then realized that you were completely screwed.
"See, I told you, it wasn't no stupid bat creature...Hey! Who's this? You spyin' on us?" He glared angrily at you, brows furrowed.
"Uh no no, not at all...I was...uhhh...waiting for someone." you rambled, words tumbling out of your mouth.
"Uh huh? I don't believe ya. You're probably a stinkin' cop." the gruff thug snarled roughly, snatching you by the arm and pulling you down to the ground.
"I'm not a cop, I'm just a photographer!"
"A photographer eh? Got a pretty nice camera too. Probably worth a bunch." An evil smile spread across his face and he lunged at you, snatching the camera from you, subsequently snapping the strap around your neck.
"Please, not my camera! I need that!"
"Too bad." The thug laughed callously and barged past you.
"Oh come on." You whimpered, hanging your head and heading in the opposite direction. You were so busy watching your feet that you barely even noticed the black figure swoop down behind you.
"Its the friggin' bat! He's real!" One of the thugs cried, before being taken down.
You couldn't believe your eyes! He was actually here! The Batman! You fumbled in your pockets for your cellphone and quickly snapped a picture of him taking down the other thug.
You watched him bend down and pick up your camera, before walking over to you and returning the stolen property.
"Thank you! Thank you so much Mr...uhh...Batman sir!" You chirped gratefully, shoving your phone in your pocket again.
He smiled. It was faint, but you saw it. "Batman. Just Batman. I'm gonna have to ask you to delete that picture you took though." His rough, gravely voice seemed to command respect.
"What picture?" You played innocent.
"The one you just took on your cellphone."
"How did you-? Please Batman, this would boost my career so much! I need this!"
He looked at you, his brain whirring behind his mask, before reluctantly saying "Alright. Just this once."
"Oh thank you thank you thank you!" You squealed, hugging him tightly, eliciting a short, gruff chuckle. You pulled away, staring at his face and features, before pressing a kiss to his lips. He briefly kissed you back before pulling back and grabbing a gun from his belt.
"I've got a job to do. Maybe we'll meet again." He shoot a line out from the gun and grappled into the night again.
Maybe things really were looking up, for you and for Gotham.

That was really good! I really enjoyed reading that! There just isn't enough batman reader inserts out there. I thought this story was really cute, especially the ending! The reader ended up getting her picture after all. XD You should really write more for Batman if you ever get the chance!

Aww thanks so much! Your kind words mean the world to me! I do want to write more stories with characters who aren't as popular on here; I feel there are far too many gaps! I certainly can try to write some more Batman stories when I get the time
