Description Name: Marie Ross
Class: D
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Personality: Dominant/Submissive-Moralistic (Knight Protector/Homemaker)
Marie is one who goes at obstacles with logic and common sense. The latter was something that she was born with while the former was something she developed for herself with her sensibility. Though she faces her problems with logic, she guides herself with her own moral compass, deciding for herself what was right and wrong. That isn't to say that she'll break the law in order to see justice; Marie just won't go down without a fight. Her caretaker-likeness is an impression her mother left on her, and her pursuit of justice is from that of her death.
Description: Marie's body type is very slender, built like a runner. As she had inherited a few of the height genes in the family, she ended up being at an even 5' 8", standing fairly tall against most other women. She has long, wavy chestnut brown hair that is normally tied up in a braid in the back, though she does like to put it in pigtails when she feels like it. Her style of dress is normally very loose, affording mobility and comfort over fashion, though the three often manage to overlap anyways.

Aura Weapon: Rotor - A metallic yo-yo impervious to the elements and nigh unbreakable. It has a rather ornate design on the sides, one that would remind the viewer of what the inner workings of a clock may look like. The yo-yo uses Aura for a string, but it has a built in string in case she needs to go incognito but wants to play with it. Also built in are curved, short razor 'teeth' that spin themselves out as the object spins outward. These, however, are not very good for doing harsh damage to something more than thread, and as such are really only used when Marie needs to cut through something. They can be activated or completely deactivated at will.
- Mantra: Drab as a fool, aloof as a bard, Rotor!
Other weapons: Marie from collects bizarre weapons as a hobby, such as the pistol sword. However, these aren't linked to her at all, and are really just another amusement.
Affinity: Wind, though is much better at typical Aura techniques.

History: At a young age, Marie was always exceptionally bright. Okay, exceptionally is much of an overstatement. She was simply imbued with more common sense than the average person, which gave her a head start in real life. This natural sensibility culminated in her breezing through her early years of life, impressing adults with her prowess. Her mother, a kindly woman, was a stay-home mom. She was the caretaker and driving force behind Marie's life - her father, not so much. This factor of encouragement allowed the girl to pursue what she wanted to pursue. As she grew older, Marie developed a passion for gymnastics and with the aforementioned support she became something like a gymnast genius. She was set to take the Olympics by storm. Then, disaster struck.

Marie (age 17) couldn't have done anything; she was off at another competition. Her mother, out on a routine errand run, was killed by a bank robber - the robber's proof that he was serious. This devastated the girl. Marie withdrew from all social interactions, dropped her competitions, everything and spiraled into a deep depression. It would be two years before she would even attempt to rejoin her passion. Before her first competition back, Marie was doing some basic stretches to loosen up her body, but suddenly they began burning like the Dickens. She was carted off to the emergency room, where it was found that she had Aura potential. An agent was soon on the scene and informed her of her choice. Either to continue her life as usual, with the occasional intervention if her powers somehow went out of control, or joining the Academy. Marie made her decision, and off she went for training.

Submission Story:
"So this is the Academy, huh?" Mumbled brown-haired girl wearing silver-gray cargo pants, a blue blazer, and a t-shirt with the words "Superstar" emblazoned around a star. "Fancy place this is. . .*"

Marie was in a good mood, or at least a contented one to say the least; She made decent time in traveling from her new apartment to the Academy, found a great deal on carrot juice at a convenience store, and even found a quarter. Yes, it was a quaint but lovely start to a new chapter of her life. But of course, what goes up must come down.

Just as Marie was taking a sip from her bottle of carrot juice in front of the building, the juice literally exploded in her face. The bottle remained intact.

"Oh, come on! That's just juvenile!" She complained looking to locate the culprit. And just who did she see but one of her former gymnastics competitors snickering at her from behind a bush. "Sarah Emerson . . ." She growled, approaching her foe – first pulling out a napkin from her pocket to clean her face off.

"Why, Maria, you look absolutely glowing today. Got a tan, or did you just drink a lot of carrot juice ?" Her red-headed rival smarmily taunted, twirling what appeared to be a pointer in her right hand while holding a health-drink in the other.

"Oh, you know, it was just from basking in the glory of all those competitions I beat you in. Or have you forgotten?" Marie shot right back, with even more venom with a now carrot-free face. "But that's beside the point. I assume you stopped going to those competitions because you gained Aura abilities?"

"You don't gain them, dumbass. They aren't something that grows. They just finally matured all those years ago."

"Whatever. Still doesn't give you the right to act like a bitch to me for winning at something I was good at."

"HEY! You stopped me from getting athletic scholarships with your lame-o performances! I was LUCKY that I got these powers, otherwise I wouldn-"

"Not have a job, social life, blah blah blah. Cry me a river, drama queen. Your life isn't over if you come in second place at a competition."

"You bitch, it is ON!" Sarah finally shouted, the pointer in her hand extending into what appeared to be a metal baton.

"You have GOT to be kid- WOAH!" Marie cried, dodging a swipe by her foe. Sarah apparently took some fencing lessons, as her blows were getting closer to hitting home. Marie did the best she could in the situation, applying her gymnastic knowledge to its best extent. Unfortunately for her, her best was not enough for this situation, and the redhead smashed her across the face with the baton.

Her foe taunted, "And I didn't even need to use my Aura. I'm a C Rank, and don't you forget it!" She would have spent more time taunting Marie, but an instructor was walking in their direction. "Sorry to beat and run, but I have more important things to do than listen to that guy blather at me. Ta-ta, Maria!"

By the time the senior staffer had reached Marie on the ground, Sarah was already long gone. The gymnast watched her foe's Aura trail dissipate as she ran off into the distance. The older man offered to help, but Marie waved it away. Outside intervention was no way to settle a real rivalry, and time and time again she learned this from her competitive experiences.

The day went on rather uneventfully after that. Or, at least as uneventfully as a day in the life of an Aura student can go. With the grounds of the Academy toured, she set off for home, an apartment building not far from the school. Once she arrived, she found her new home to be rather bare. The place was a one bedroom, one bath home with a small kitchen and a living room overlooking the city, connected to a balcony by way of a sliding glass door. The place came with the bare necessities, such as a fridge, microwave, dresser, and even a mattress.

"Looks like I'm going to have to find where the nearest IKEA is . . ." Marie contemplated aloud, inspecting the rooms. The fridge was enough to support one person's basic needs, indeed, even if they were one of the few who actually had to cook their meals from scratch. After all, having a healthy body is one of the primary unspoken rules of athletics. Marie walked onto her balcony to gaze upon the town and all its sights had to offer when all of a sudden, she saw somebody plummet past her towards the ground. Startled, Marie scrambled and peered over the edge of the balcony. Thankfully, the situation resolved itself by way that the falling one was an Aura user of sorts and had blasted themselves to safety.

"I hope that sort of thing doesn't happen every day. . . otherwise, I might need to take up drinking." She grumbled, shaking her head and walking back inside where she collapsed onto her mattress. "Well, I s'pose I'd better get to bed. Big day tomorrow." Marie told herself, pulling her blanket and pillow out of a suitcase that she had delivered to the front desk of the building earlier. The usual pre-sleep ritual occurred; teeth brushing, pajama changing, pillow fluffing, and so on. It would be a long day tomorrow, and she would need all the sleep she could get.
