Description
I'm thinking of starting a long series of drawings with redesigns of different characters in SU. No real reason, just for the fun of it. And also, when CN inevitably reboots the series 5 years from now, I hope they see this and take it into account.

DISCLAIMER! THIS IS NOT ME CRITISIZING THE CREW FOR DESIGNING PEARL THE WAY THEY DID! NOR AM I SAYING I COULD'VE DONE IT BETTER! CANON PEARL IS PERFECT! I JUST WANTED TO DO A REIMAGINING BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT'D BE FUN! I'M NOT TRYING TO BASH ANYONE, I'M JUST DOING MY THING!

Homeworld:
I made her pinker to illustrate her elligance to PD, I was always confused as to why she had multiple Diamond colors so I took the Yellow and Blue away but I kept some of the White because I like it.
I took some elements from ballerinas like from famous ballets like Swan Lake and stuff. I like a fancy Pearl.
I crossed out her mouth to symbolize that she can't speak freely because of what Pink made her do. I made it so that her mouth slowly opens up more and more with the passage of time to signify how she becomes more and more free with the passage of time until she can finally open herself up fully.
Her eyes and ears are pink to show how much she truly belongs to Pink at this point in her life. they slowly change from pink to blue with time to show how she stops belonging to Pink and starts belonging to herself a little more.

Greg Flashbacks:
I took some elements from Freddie Mercury and David Bowie. Very 70s rocker, very stupid looking and super dated but proud.
I like to think she used to poke Greg with her giant shoulder pads just to spite him sometimes.

Season 1A:
I made her look a lot like Rose to show how she's still grieving over her and still thinking about her and still belonging to her, in a way, after all these years.
This design is also incredibly girly which I think works because Season 1 Pearl is Pearl at her most traditionally feminine behaviour.
That thing she has on her right arm is suppoused to be similar to those black bracelets people wear when their spouse has died; only instead of being black, this one's pink. My poor sweet widowed Pearl.

After Steven the Sword Fighter:
In these redesigns; I strove to make the Gems, and especially Pearl, look more fantastical and magical and less alien or AI. Especially in this one, I wanted Pearl to look more like an elf, a knight. Graceful, regal, strong, like something out of a fairytail; just like a faerie.
Also, Pearl with a cape is just something so amazing that we never really got to see but I'm sure Pearl would love waving her cape around dramatically like an anime hero.
Sorry, Edna, but I have to say: YES CAPES!

After CYM:
This one is the one with the least changes made because I feel like Canon Pearl's outfit after CYM was pretty much flawless.
The only thing I felt like adding was that I made it assymetrical because I like the idea that Pearl abandones the need for perfection and order, and thus, the need for symetry.
