Description

A freaky incident has happened to poor ol' Sinbad. Back in November, we moved from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, so I packed my collection into space bags to keep them safe. We moved into a temporary location for the winter, so i kept my dogs in the space bags on a shelf in my room's closet. Come March, we moved into a rental home, and it's taken me til the end of June the other night to finally take my collection out of the bags and display them in my new closet (was waiting to see if dust would be a problem on the shelves because the closet has an open space at the top, hence why I took so long to pull them out).

Everyone was in good shape as I put them up on the shelf and then I got to Sinbad last by chance. I noticed material in my hand as I went to place him and then suddenly saw his nose. The material was flaking off!

I figured the damage was good as done, so flaked the rest of it off and what you see above in the picture is the end result. He has a pink nose now!! D:

I don't think he looks particularly good with a pink nose, so I've contacted DCT about it and they're going to check their warehouse if they can offer a replacement. I also asked if that isn't possible, if I could send him in for repairs for nose surgery (lol), or if there was something I could do to fix it myself. Even using a permanent black felt marker might be enough, even though it'll never be truly the same again.

I also wanted to let them know in case this is a widespread defect for the 2008 dogs. The new 16" dogs introduced that year besides 'Bell' were 'Jose' Portuguese Water Dog and 'Glover' Boxer. Are they also potentially at risk for Pink Nose Syndrome?

If this sort of thing has happened to you and your plushies, please comment below! I want to collect data on this phenomenon and see if there's other cases out there. I will pass along any reports to DCT, so they are made fully aware of the defective material. that way it will never be used again in the future.

My poor, poor Sinbad.
