Description
In-game screenshot from Star Wars Battlefront II (EA)The Advanced Recon Commandos (ARC) otherwise referred to as ARC Troopers; were clone soldiers of The Republic that had either received special training or demonstrated advanced tactics and combat performance in the field to be selected for the ARC special forces. They served as infiltrators in the most dangerous missions and military campaigns during the clone wars. Most often performing behind the scenes operations during major military campaigns, the ARC Troopers would regroup with and reinforce Republic Forces often proving to be invaluable assets and role models as skilled soldiers and "outside the box" tacticians for other clones.
The Umbra Operative style was created solely as an 'appearance' for EA's Star Wars Battlefront II video game and has no origin in any other Star Wars media. If I were to guess what the Umbra Operative was, I tend to think of the similarity of the name Umbra to Umbara. I then consider that this may have been the style of armor ARC Troopers may have selected when deployed in the Umbara Campaign during the Clone Wars (other Arc Troopers may have worn their usual armor when deployed with their battalion such as the 501st), which was one of the most brutal operations undertaken during the Clone Wars. Otherwise, it just looks cool, and make great action figures; I sometimes refer to them as "Bumblebee Troopers".
