Description
Owned and Operated by: Alt mode: Panavia Tornado F.3 Interceptor. Pigma Micron inks (0.20, 0.35, and 0.5 mm sizes), overlaid with Prismacolor pencils. My wrist and elbow hurt. ~.~Magma
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Species: Transformer
Faction: Decepticon
Function: DATA ANALYSIS
Rank: Soldier/1
Quote: "History does not repeat itself, though it does give clues to those intelligent enough to look for them."
Note:
MAGMA was originally a warrior, many eon's ago, though he's largely
obsolete today. Capable of massive amounts of data analysis, with a
specialization in Historical and Predictive analysis, meaning the ability
to look at past events and calculate reasonable likelihood's of future
events. Though he has outlived his combat usefulness, his abilities of the
mind have kept him from the smelting pits, and a few key upgrades to his
body and skills have returned his value to a significant level. His primary
weapon - a Plasma Caster - along with the study of Psychological Warfare
and Philosophy have given him back the edge he needed to stay ahead of the
end. His knowledge of psychology has made it easier for him to befriend
those around him, while his continued obsolescence haunts him on the
battlefield, leaving him a liability in some combat situations.

Every once in a while I'll rotate around images, and put up stuff that's hidden in the later pages of my gallery. It makes me think fondly of the times when I had, well, spare time.

Thou art truly a master of the pencil crayon.
I wish I could get the scanner to not eat the image colour, do you have a trick or something?
And I'm afraid I must say that it would be an interesting altmode to draw. And that I said that completely of my own free will.

*nods* Thankyou for the advice, I'll try that next time.
>_> <_< *encourage*
Somehow I feel that the thought of being owned wouldn't go over well with him...

Heh heh. Don't encourage Magma's owner!
Usually when scanning, I adjust several items in the Advanced menu for the scanner software. Do NOT allow it to automatically adjust anything. After you find a setting that you like, do not save it -- the different colors lay down their marks differently, best to adjust each time you scan. After it does its preview scan, I make sure to turn off any sharpening filters that may be on.
I usually do not adjust colors, but will manually tweak the highlights, shadows, and midtones. How much of each usually depends on the type of drawing I'm scanning in -- a full colored piece like this will usually have its shadows only slightly deepened, the midtones deepened, and the highlights lightened a bit.
Also, scan at 300 dpi or higher for images done in colored pencil. I find that post-editing (despeckle, blur, sharpen edges, etc) is more forgiving once you've done this.

Argh, you're too good at this... making transformers with REAL warplane alt-modes, like it should be, and like it used to be! none of this 'futuristic' crap I salute you!!
On a random aside, are you a Macross fan as well? I wonder if it may have caught your interest, due to transforming planes
Your art makes me want to begin a project I've always had in mind of my own involving transforming planes

I've seen a bit of the series, but the lack of sapience in the aircraft themselves kind of kills my interest in it. Now, that doesn't stop me from appreciating some of the designs. I do own the Stealth Valkyrie, and I like ogling the designs as they come out, but I really couldn't give two hairs on a rat's ass about the humans involved. Except for Captain Gloval. >.>
I had a friend ask me to design up a bomber gerwalk, which I did, and hid away in my scraps. You can find the Longbow here: [link]

I'm with everybody. Awesome detail on the thing over all.
The gun looks positively bad-ass, your attention to detail is astounding in that regard. I like the third wing in the back, adds a certain character to an already extraordinary 'seeker'

This is something that takes well-skilled and well-practiced folk a week to do! Perhaps you should try a week long project, and finish it up completely before you scan it, see what you can do with it. Spend a night planning characters, poses, and initial sketches. Two nights for inking. Three for coloring? Just a thought.

I suppose I could try. I'm used to "rushing" when doing stuff like coloring. Comes of years of "stealth-drawing" under the noses of teachers and whatnot, ready to conceal at a moment's notice.

Holy Friggin Paintjobs, . This is Shweet!
I especially dig the Plasma caster and the highlights on his fuel tanks! Oh how I wish I could do this... I'm gonna have to bust out my art pad and start practicing...it's gonna take a while. The note rocks too, :+devgirtherobot: I know back in my charstaffer days I'd be happy to see an app with that kind of well done note in it. Bravo!

It would be interesting to design a P-38 transformer....how exactly do you go about making your own transformer anyway...?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Heatherbeast In reply to The-Floodling [2006-07-30 16:03:34 +0000 UTC]
'make'? Just come up with a concept and draw it, I wager.
However, it sounds like you're more interested in roleplay groups centered around Transformers. Allow me to direct you to the 'About TF2005' page on the site here: [link] It'll tell you more about the setting and format of the game itself. After TONS of reading (think the equivalent of an RPG guidebook!) you can then draft up an application for a character, complete with name, concept, history, personality, stats, etc, and submit it for admin review. Everyone gets rejected the first time.

The-Floodling In reply to Heatherbeast [2006-07-30 16:24:14 +0000 UTC]
Well, I'm not really interested in roleplay for the time being. I just thought it would be neat to see my anthro P-38 done in the style i guess. Perhaps we can trade or comission sometime in the future.

Heatherbeast In reply to The-Floodling [2006-07-30 16:31:54 +0000 UTC]
Yes! I'm nearly done with one trade, and have a solid concept lined up for the second, so it'd be worthwhile. And there was... a Go-Bot P-38 Lightning, actually, named Bolt. Adorable little thing, he's still floating around in the packing boxes somewhere. The stylization is certainly different than how I would handle it, though.
Here's a pic: [link]
As you can see, the uh... Transformation of Gobots and Transformers is considerably different. Would definitely draw him differently.

That's totally cool, but really funny too...LOL! Anyway, I'll let you know when we can trade. I'm going through a prisma and sharpie drought tht i need to correct before I can draw anything good.
