"An adventuring cleric has separated from her party in search of interesting, if not necessarily valuable, artifacts.

She finds one in the form of a carved bone totem, encircled with sinew strings of teeth.

She doesn't recognize large, blunt teeth of gnolls, or the ancient and wild magics coursing through the relic, and absentmindedly reaches for it, hoping to add it to the "heathen" section of a chapel reliquary.

Motivated by those fell magics, the gnoll's teeth stab into her hand, "biting" her one last time before finally falling truly inert.

Shaking her injured hand she notices her skin rapidly darkening and portions beginning to puff out into paw pads.
Unsure of what to make of it initially, she watches her dainty hand painfully mutate into the clumsy, bestial paw of a gnoll..."
