Description

I figured it was just about time I put together a proper, full reference for Zef here, now that I've settled on an original species design. So here we are!

This is Zef, updated and converted to my original species, the Slahn. Much of the gist of her backstory is the same, but I'm not going to get into that here because I'm literally writing a novel about it sooooooo |D

Some notes on the Slahn:

Slahn have large lungs and therefore large chests, due to the relatively low oxygen content of their home planet. This is also why they have four large nasal slits.

They also have ostrich-like legs, coupled with a slight forward lean. They've got a third finger on the back of their hands, colloquially known as a "striking claw" which was actually the result of a failed attempt at genetically modifying the species. Not that anyone will ever actually admit that it was a failure.

As a whole, slahn absolutely love genetic modification, and almost every single slahn has some form of genetic modification. For Zef, that comes mostly in the form of her eye color (naturally, they were more of a green color) and the jetpack she had installed directly onto her back.

Finally, almost all slahn have neural implants in some form; Zef's are actually abnormally large and chunky. Usually they show up as only small wires/tubes that only briefly breach the skull/skin in intricate patterns.

A side view of slahn heads can be found here: fav.me/dctche9

Personality:

Zef is the slahn equivalent of a defect; in slahn culture, this is known as malfuncts, or malfunctioning slahn. Basically, the wiring and programming in her neural implants aren't working the way they should be.

--To put it shortly, Zef is neurotic. She has downfalls that mostslahn would not--that is, she is merciful to a fault. She has a hard time convincing herself that it would be ethical to kill even someone like Teivol (partly because she still sees him as a friend in some deep recess of her heart), and has to resort to distancing herself from the death she causes, for her own sanity.
--She is extremely paranoid and mistrustful--after being betrayed time and time again, it's no wonder. It takes a lot to gain her trust, and often she will intentionally push people away so she doesn't have to decide if she trusts them.
--She is also quick-tempered and passionate, in the best and worst of ways. She gets angry easily, and frustrated, especially at herself. She is not the best at being friendly towards others, especially strangers, and will often be snappy or harsh. But, once she does decide she likes someone, she throws her whole heart and soul into it. She can't help it. She hates wholly and loves wholly.
--She is rash and hot headed and impatient and stubborn, but incredibly caring all the same, to the point of reckless altruism.
--She has natural protective instincts that were supposed to be geared towards keeping her squad from being killed, but which ended up amplified. This is especially seen towards small children; she tends to be rather motherly towards them, no matter whose child they are.
--Freedom is very important to her; she absolutely hates being coerced into things, and hates feeling trapped.
--And, finally, she is ridiculously high-strung. Often taking the weight of the universe on her shoulders, and allowing the burden of her past to add to said weight, she worries frequently and often unnecessarily. It has caused her no small amount of stress, and has aged her beyond her years.

And that's about it!

Slahn design is mine

The outfit was designed by Zerna and the colors of said outfit were designed by TigerDragon1001 (with minor tweaks from me).
