Hahaha, now I'll call you Puffin, is that's OK. I hope it wasn't a nasty name.
They're such cute animals. ^^

Wow that is so freaking awesome
The watercoloured BG is working extremely well with the bird, giving the image more depth and putting the bird more into the fron and center.
And the bird itself looks so real, it could be photo as well. Even the single small feathers are visible *___* Here, especially the feathers on the starting of his legs are eyecatching. The legs and feet are amazing as well.
And I so love the face *_* The eye, zhough many people demand, birds won't have, shows so much emotion, feeling and intelligence, it's amazing. It makes me smile to look at this pice ^-^
It is a very impressive, yet so calm and beautiful drawing.
I bet your mum was so happy about this ^_^

Aww, yeah, those tiny feathers - how DID I do that?
The whole picture (including the puffin) is in watercolour, I just added the details in coloured pencils. Love this technique so much.
I'm so glad you see that the puffin's expression is happy (I wasn't sure at first). My mum was sooo surprised to see this, and now... she asked me to paint many more!!
Thank you Neko-chan

Thank you again for the encouragement.
Yes, I kinda miss drawing animals now, but it was all I ever did for Uni projects. Drawing kawaii type animals.
I can picture my next challenge: a rat wearing a pirate hat. Now where did that idea come from?

You're very welcome, my friend That's what dA's for, right?
Awww... yay for the kawaii type animals Where indeed did such a preposterous idea come from
I'd love to see you do that, though

I dunno.. but I saw on TV, some were being caught, cooked and eaten. They seemed similar to eating pigeons!

This is simply a stunning artwork and a very skilled usage of color.
I really envy you your skill with colors.
Hope your mom really enjoyed it~

Oh, no need to envy. You're pretty comfortable using pencils, so there's nothing to it with coloured pencils. I would love to see you try out colours. You're great with applying tones anyway ^^
Thanks for the compliment - it was a wonderful feeling to give this painting to her. <3

No need to envy, sure, but I still really admire your skill.
And I don't think so. I am really no good with colors, so I rather stick with my good beloved black and white techniques.
You're very welcome~
It's always an enjoyable satisfaction when the receiver is pleased with the gift.
