Description SPLITTING HAIRZ- DESTINY'S CHILDREN I

RAGNAROK

"The Triad was founded to help keep the galaxy safe from those who would cause harm," said a cloaked gentleman.  He sat down and motioned for his two companions to be seated.

"The sword called Hairsplitter was forged thousands of years ago and was protected by a Guardian," the man's female counterpart recited.

"The Guardian founded the Hairsplitter Knights to preserve peace and justice throughout the galaxy," a second man spoke.

"And when the Dark Time comes, a Chosen One shall appear to wield the Hairsplitter and bring light to the darkness," the first man concluded.

"Brother Alpha," the woman began.  "Surely you havent gathered us here to merely recite the Hairsplitter Prophecy?"

"Sister Beta, Brother Gamma," the man called Alpha addressed.  "We know that a Chosen One appeared on Earth several centuries ago..."

"Yes," Beta interjected.  "the terrans created the 'Legend of Excalibur' out of those times..."

"But the Dark Time was averted, and the Excalibur--Hairsplitter disappeared along with its Guardian," Gamma said.

"Averted--postponed," Alpha responded.  "but not stopped.  I believe the Dark Time is upon is once more.  The Hairsplitter Sword has reappeared."

"And the Chosen One--?"

"Well, naturally, he was the one who discovered it."

"And what is the hero's name?"

ELSEWHERE

"Apook!  Are you listening--?"

The woman's words were met with a blank stare from the young man sitting in front of her.

"Zachary Apook!" the woman yelled loudly.

"AHH," the young man responded.  "Agent Deathwind, you needn't shout.  I'm right here."

A man clad in yellow and red body armor entered the room.  Behind him, was a younger man clad in similar armor.

Agent Deathwind approached the first gentleman.

"Sir," she inquired.  "does the Galaxy Alliance really need the services of this....this....hired gun?!"

"Hey," Zac spoke up.  "I resent that!  I prefer the term 'Freelance Peacekeeping Agent'!"

"Riiiiiiight," Deathwind noted with more than a hint of sarcasm in her voice.

"Excuse Delena," the older man said.  "She's young yet.  She's a fine officer but a bit--er tightly wound."

"Jack Hudson," Apook said.  "Or should I call you 'Jackal'?"

"It's been a while my friend," Jackal replied. "This is my second-in-command Ted Morrison, code name: Liger"

"An honor to meet you sir," Liger said excitedly.

Liger held his hand out towards Apook.  Zac, still seated, looked at Liger's hand and arched his eyebrow, giving him a puzzled look.

"Ah," Jackal muttered.  "I guess I should have warned you.  Apook doesn't like to shake hands."

"Oh," Liger responded nervously.  "Sorry."

"Nothin' personal kid," Apook told him.  "...just don't like...bein' touched."

Liger looked at the rather large man standing to Apook's right.  He had been silent through out the entire conversation.  He wore a black leather trenchcoat and a bandana, his eyes hidden behind sunglasses.  Liger grew a bit more nervous when he realized that the man was looking at him.  Jackal's eye's widened when he realized his error.

"Liger," Jackal began.  "this is--"

"Dozer," the large man responded in a deep voice.

Dozer took Liger's hand and shook it vigorously.  Liger made an audible groan of pain from Dozer's vice-like grip.  Zac groaned out of boredom.

"If we're through with the pleasantries," he said, in an annoyed tone.  "would you mind tellin us where you want us to go, an' what you want us to do?"

A few hours later, Apook, Dozer, Liger and Jackal were in a small starship approaching a large asteroid.  A building was constructed inside the asteroid with several areas stemming off from it.

"RAGNAROK?!" Zac cried.  "You want us to break into Ragnarok?  Thats an Imperial Prison!"

"Well," Jack chuckled.  "You didn't expect us to break into an Alliance Prison did you?"

"An' what's more," Zac continued.  "you want us to break some prisoners out!  Are you high?  No one's ever broken out of Ragnarok!  With or without help!"

"You used to love this sort of thing, Zac," Jackal noted.  "What happened to you?"

"Hnn...this happened," Apook grumbled, pointing at a metallic object embedded in his temple.

"Whoa," exclaimed Liger.  "is that a--?"

"Neural Implant," Apook answered.  "I was in a psych hospital for five years.  The implant is supposed to...uh...supress my more...suicidal urges."

"So that's why you fell of the radar for a few years," Jackal commented.  "Even Alliance Intelligence had know idea where you were--how was it covered up so well...and more importantly, how the hell did anyone convince to go to a hospital?"

"I...would rather not talk about it," was Apook's response.

"Well at any rate," said Delena Deathwind, who was piloting their ship.

"Delena, once we are inside, activate the cloak," Jackal ordered.  "Then contact Dr Orleans at Alliance Medical.  We don't know what shape our...new friends will be in."

"Aye sir," responded Deathwind.

The foursome stepped on the teleportation device.

"We will arrive at the er--front gates, as it were," Jackal informed his companions.  "Where the new prisoners arrive
for processing."

"An' how exactly are we getting in?" Zac inquired.  "You got a lock-pick in that fancy Alliance get-up a yours?"

Jackal smiled.

"Something like that."

A calculator-like device popped out of Jackal's gauntlet.  He motioned to Liger, who activated the teleporter.  A few seconds later, the four of them were at the gates of Ragnarok.  Jackal approached the gate, and walked towards a small keypad located there.  The device from his gauntlet, interfaced with the keypad.  Within seconds, the gate opened.

"After you," Jackal said with a grin, as he motioned for Apook and Dozer to enter.

"We'll go and free the four prisoners," Liger said to Dozer, who nodded in agreement.

"Four?  Only four?" Zac inquired.  "Why not simply release them all?"

"Because," Jackal responded, sounding annoyed with his old friends constant griping.  "We don't know how many of these people are real criminals!  Some of them may well be dangerous!  However we know for a fact that four of them aren't!"

"Hn," Zac grunted.  "that's some fine Intel the Alliance has..."

"Well," Liger called cheerfully.  "We're off!"

Liger and Jackal each touched a button on their respective belts and vanished.

"Cloaks!" Zac cried.  "Those fuckers get to run around here an' be invisible!  What the hell are we doin' here then?"

As if to answer his question, alarm sirens wailed.

"We are the distraction," Dozer said with a smile.  "Time for you to put that telekinesis of yours to good use!"

Imperial Troops arrived and without a word, began firing their laser rifles at the two friends.  Dozer charged the group, picking up a soldier with ease and throwing him into the others.  Zac, meanwhile, was busy deflecting laser fire with his two short swords.  Eventually, a few of the troops got close enough and attempted to physically take him down.  They were met, however, with a flurry of martial arts kicks.

"Five feet of Fury Attack," Dozer noted, as he continued to wreak havoc among his selected foes.  "Impressive!  The Ferakians who came up with that would be proud!  Anyway...you havin fun yet bro?"

"Actually," Zac replied as he telekinetically flung a soldier into a computer terminal.  "I'm starting to!"

"Well unfortunately," Dozer said as he knocked another foe unconcious.  "these losers should be our only opposition.  Jackal said that most of Ragnarok's security is automated, so it wouldnt be guarded by too many actual troops."

With a wave of his hand, Zac raised one of the fallen soldiers up off the ground and launched him at the two guards still firing upon him.  They fell over and dropped their weapons.  Zac re-drew his twin blades and pointed them at the downed soldiers.

"I...wouldn't get up if I were you," he warned them.

Dozer paused.  Zac raised an eyebrow and stared at his friend, his weapons still trained on his fallen opponents.  Dozer pulled out a cell phone from his coat pocket.  A hologram of Jackal was projected from the device.

"It's done," Jackal's image informed them.  "Meet us at the control room on the third floor."

"You heard the man, buddy," Dozer said.

"Yea," Apook muttered.  "But what to do about these guys....ah!"

Zac had an epiphany.  With little effort he telekinetically pulled the damaged computer console from the wall, raised it up a few feet above the defeated soldiers and dropped it on them.

"I reckon they will be staying put for a bit," Zac said.  "Let's go."
