Again, Krita on Surface Pro practice. This is like using a poor man's Wacom display, though the computing power, especially RAM, is definitely lacking. I am mainly playing with brushes and trying out more dynamic compositions... namely big boom and flying debris. I botched the clouds here, mostly because I created so many unnamed layers that I forgot which is which. I may want to change subject next time, and try some other compositions.

I am starting to get a hang of the whole explosion technique. My current process is to do large, pure white highlights over the core of the boom area, then freeform draw clusters of very dark shadows to get the larger forms right. Then, I add in layers and layers of debris by alternating dark cast shadow and bright ejecta, increasing angle and reducing density until a satisfying amount of volume is created.
