Oh yes, mainly because of him being one of really rare kombatants, if not the only only one, that uses actual real-life stuff constantly, like grenades, guns and batons. Can you imagine him managing to beat many opponents that can use the powers of nature with those everyday stuff? It`s almost surreal, but with this guy, it does happen. Definitely not a pushover of a cop, especially in MK 9.

Yeah, but I think if it's not because of the game mechanics, someone like Goro or Ermac wouldn't even flinch after getting shot with a normal handgun. Unless he uses special weapons.
Hmmm... Why does Freddy not speak at all? And why isn't he voiced by Robert Englund? Though I have to admit, it's pretty cool to see him fight with Scorpion and Liu Kang.

Heheh, yeah. As for the lack of voice clips, I would probably point the finger at the fact that he is a DLC-character, as others (Skarlet, Kenshi, Rain) don`t speak as well. No matter if we could have some copyright-issues appointed as well.

Well, the backstory is pretty slack, with her being resurrected from the copse of a black dragoness by so-called "Nazidragons", pretty much Nazi-oriented cave-dragons that wished to conquer the world, but she had broken out of their control, murdered the majority of them and then escaped. Didn`t thought much about her backstory from that point, except that she is wished by many other villains to be their loyal minion, so that she can spread chaos around in their name.
Can completely believe by now.

O_O ... Ok, this is totally not what I`ve had in mind. It was honestly the era of the year 2008 when I was conjuring her backstory, so this is totally one huuuuuge coincidence there. Blame my fascination with WW2, Wolfenstein 3D and its fan-made mods.
