This thing took me months to do, literally, and that even though I didn't do it from scratch, it's a tweak of this awesome fractal:

I learned a lot while working on this fractal, especially about relations, some inner workings of these rough type of fractals and 3D stuff. I doubt though I'd be able to come up with 3D fractals of similar quality myself any time soon, but well, I might get there one distant day. It was a lot of fun doing this tweak, and considering the resources I used up on this it's surprising that I never ran into any big troube along the way. Though oddly enough there was a weird glitch with one of the rendered frames, where parts of the fractals where brighter, making the animation look like there's some kind of thunder in the 'sky'. I re-rendered the frame because in the end it only looked like an bad artifact, but I've kept the glitched frame as a souvenir, and in some ways as an inspiration.

Time spent tweaking this flame: ~15-25 hours? | I'm not really sure, I worked here and there on it for months
Rendering time: Nearly 13 days [!!!] | Yeah the depth required some density, rendering one picture was still fast (~40 minutes), but not all of those frames...
