I decided to skip the scene where Ogi and Tamaki shield Lelouch from Cornelia's sword, defending him. I just couldn't seem to redraw the scene as well as it was portrayed in the movie. So on to the next most favorite scene of mine. Where Ogi offers his life in exchange for forgiveness.
In the movie, Ogi's suspicions and hatred toward Zero was vastly flipped. It felt awkward to trust Zero so easily, especially since he knows Lelouch has lied and committed horrible sins behind the Black Knights' backs. Regardless, Zero did do a lot for them, and Ogi knows they wouldn't be where they were today without Zero.
It's interesting to see just how heavy Ohgi's guilt is here. He has a wife and a child. The world is finally at peace, and yet he is willing to shoot himself for honor over his guilt. That's messed up and yet extremely interesting for Ohgi's character.
"Stop. It's all in the past, water under the bridge."
Lelouch stopping Ohgi was a no brainer, but I was frustrated with his choice of words. He should have said "You had every right to distrust me. Don't ever kill yourself for a man like me." Or an added "Live so you may continue to change the world and protect those you love," ect... Saying it's "all in the past" is such garbage. Lelouch knew that the Black Knights turning on him would be an outcome at some point.
If he said it as I rewrote, it would show Ohgi that he wasn't wrong for "betraying" him. That yes, Lelouch / Zero is a con man who worked miracles, sometimes at the expense of others. Zero used to believe in justice for all, but Lelouch's perspective on justice became extremely warped, and Geass eventually lead him down the path of heavy and unnecessary bloodshed.
Admitting that he should have trusted Ohgi and the Black Knights more, along with the fact that he too isn't innocent here, would give Ohgi insight on just what kind of man Zero truly is behind that mask. To see Lelouch open up and bond with one of his top commanding soldiers would have meant the world to me.
