Comparison between my kit Lens (EF-S 18-55mm 3.5) and a Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm 1.4 mounted on my 1000D with an adaptor ring.The main image in the background is shot with the kit lens at 55mm f/8.0 and the little windows are part of the image shot with the Zeiss lens at 50mm f/4.0.
Both images are a small part of the photo,
the resolution you see is 100% of the original.
The Zeiss lens obviously wins.
