Jack Wimbleton was finally getting home after a late night shift, he was forcing his body awake as he drove home on an empty stomach refusing to take his break in order to cover for others who hadn't come in that day. Once he parked in the driveway he walked up the path leading to the door and walked in, the kitchen lights on with his daughter standing there stirring something in a metal pot
Carol; you're home late
Jack; Carol? what are you doing up yawn it's a Sunday, you have school tomorrow...
Carol; well I couldn't sleep, and when I noticed you weren't home I knew you wouldn't eat 'til you got home so I decided to make you dinner. I hope you like chili
Jack; but... we don't have the stuff for chili... how did you-
Carol; don't think about it too hard, I just did a little shopping that's all
Jack just stood there in silence, watching his daughter cook his food with a sorrowful look before slowly walking over and hugging Carol
Carol; woah... whaaaaat are you doing?
Jack; Thank you Carol, this means... alot to me... I know things have been rough but I promise, I will make things better. No matter what it takes...
Carol was silent, before smiling in what felt like forever as she looked at Jack. pausing her stirring
Carol; thanks dad, now enough of this mushy crap. Foods done~
Jack let go and stood back, helping her prepare two bowls before moving out to the living room to watch something while they ate. before they knew it they had fallen asleep on the couch together, Father and Daughter
