Ok, this is too cute. This is going on a black long sleeved T-shirt.I've really been wanting to share my view on the whole Derpy situation. I have aspergers disorder, and I actually feel that censoring Derpy for being "offensive to the mentally disabled" is a lot more offensive than the actual character. What censoring her has said is that the mentally disabled should be hidden away from the world and not accepted for the way they are. It hurts. Derpy is just a clumsy and slightly slow minded pony with strange eyes. That is no reason to call her offensive. There are many people who have those individual traits, and leaving her in the show would teach people to accept all people for the way they are. Plus, she's interesting in a way that brings smiles to people's faces. This adorable pony was lovingly named by her fans, and all the creators wanted to do when they had her speak in an episode and made her name official in the same episode was to please the large portion of the fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic that love this adorable derp-eyed mare. In addition, there are many other characters in cartoon series all over television. Patrick from Spongebob Squarepants, Cosmo from The Fairly Odd Parents, even Snails from the very same TV show derpy was in. There should be no excuse for these cruel accusations other than a bunch of parents that have completely or almost completely normally functioning brains that are desperate to make a difference and decided to jump to a cruel and incorrect conclusion. Derpy is completely innocent, and regarding her name, the word "derp" just refers to anything clumsy or bizarre in nature. Anyone and anything can be a derp. The noun version of the word has nothing to do with people with mental disabilities. The same goes for the verb version of the word. Anyone and anything can derp, not just the mentally disabled. I am sick of people trying to defend people trying to to defend people with mental disabilities, weather more functioning than me or less functioning than me, like we're completely helpless. We have feelings an all of us can express them in some sort of way. If Derpy was offensive, we'd feel offended. We don't need others to speak up for us all the time. I have aspergers, which is a high-functioning type of autism. I have trouble remembering things sometimes, I have trouble spelling things a lot of the time, I tend to zone out of conversations after a minute or so, I can be a bit short tempered sometimes, but worst of all, I have trouble making friends because nobody very few people have accepted me when I was in elementary school and middle school. Now that I go to a private catholic high school, it was a bit of a shock to me. I had been going to school with students that treated me poorly until that point, and all of a sudden I was surrounded by the nicest students I had ever met, but am still really afraid to try and make friends. My school's drama club had became my second family. I didn't need to worry about approaching them, they all welcomed me with open arms. I remember that one day during rehearsal for "The Drowsy Chaperone", I spent a lot of time watching the saxophone player for the jazz band draw a charcoal drawing of Derpy. Also, in my science class, on February 6th while we were doing prayer like we do at the beginning of every class, one boy who sits two rows back and one seat over from be did a special intention for three ponies: Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash. The next day, the same boy did the same for Applejack and Pinkie Pie. In conclusion, I feel that Derpy is not offensive to anyone in any way, that the accusation was more offensive than the characters, and that Derpy is beloved my many, probably making the censored version of the Last Roundup something that hurt the show instead of helping it.
