I dont know if there's a way to join a group without having to "watch" the group? I mean, i dont want everyday to come home and have a whole bunch of deviations in my notification xD

Oh, right after you join it y'know that screen pops up.
You gotta make your selection and choices there about what you wanna do about the group you're joining.
Check out that selection about watching the group and others choices if you don't want spam art.
You could still click the group, and I think at the top right of the group, you could click something like, "Don't watch group" or something like it.
