I have to poke some fun at this. Yes, it is infuriating that your favourite character of the entire series isn't present for an event that would call for her presence (Again. Why Hello Gala!). But at the same time it can be seen as funny. But seriously writers and Hasbro. PLEASE stop acting like Luna doesn't exist. She's actually a pretty damn popular character and one with tons of potential. =/
Still. Not a reason to not be excited for the episodes. I know they'll be enjoyable regardless.
Also..I keep noticing most artists color her with the colors of the "Luna Eclipsed" episode. Um..that episode took place at nightime..everyone's colors where darker..

Um, you do know this is a joke? And that from the get go I've said the episodes would be good and enjoyable regardless? And the fact that they actually where cements that.

In my opinion MLP creators are doing some mistakes, I mean, the part that they focus on humor and mane 6 is good, we get to meet the characters realy well and every episode is very very funny, not to mention that PinkyPie and Flutthershy got some realy nice episodes and so many funny references like metal gear twilight, Flutthershy tree, and many great songs.
But they mistake is that they not focus and screw up Celestia/Luna story, I mean, the show start with NMM and we get a bit of backstory about what happened in first episode, but after this Luna almost never show up and Celestia show up in short scenes, because of this they characters are not to well developed.
When I read MLP fanfictions, I notice that in alot of tham Celestia, Luna and NMM are well developed and given a very importand roles, and there are many good backstorys explaining what happened in the pass.
I think writers would do well by giving Celestia and Luna more screen time and chance for character development as well as showing up more of they background, pass and give tham more importand role.
I do not know about Cadence since she is new character, but already the idea to put Blooblood in the show give alot of confusion, and I do not need to mention that there are some plot holes involving episode where how with Windigos, where alot of ponnys die frozen, where unicorns were able to move sun and moon on they own and not telling the time when it happened, when did Discord showed up and when Luna and Celestia took over.
The ansfer is not just to give Luna more episodes, the ansfer is that Luna and Celestia need far more attention, character development and bigger role ( at last it is my opinion ).

And once again. I agree 100%. Luna should appear more for the sake of development. That's why I love the episode "Luna Eclipsed" so much. It was a development episode for Luna, and it was a comical, slice of life episode for members of the Mane Six.

You are right. But I think that is in part because by default whatever backstory is to be told about the Alicorn Sisters (and Discord) in detail will be of a more serious tone. We have alternatives like how they rose to power, how Luna fell from grace, the heartbreaking decisions Celestia must've made. Not really the kind of material that is easy to adapt into a slice of life cartoon show, specially without derailing it. While I would love their backstories to be told, if the writers do not feel comfortable telling such stories because they don't know how to, then I'm okay with that.
What I am NOT okay with is acting like the characters don't exist. That's part of why I find "Luna Eclipsed" as such an awesome episode. They're developing Luna's character to fit into the type of story the Mane Six tend to be a part of. More of that they have no excuse to not show.

The Windigos aren't really plotholes, as the details of how events from a thousand years ago or more haven't been explained in detail. And even without details I managed to piece together how things could've happened.
-Windigos appear in the pony land the three races inhabit.
-Clover and the other ponies settle Equestria.
-A princess (maybe Princess Platinum or decendant?) is poisoned with the Love Poison. (Princess is shown as an Alicorn in one screenshot, and as a Unicorn in another.)
-Bad things start to happen in Equestria because the Princess in incapable of doing her job.
-Enter Discord. (In the Hearts Warming Eve episode it is mentioned that "chaos" happened after the Princess was poisoned.)
-The Alicorn Sisters use the Elements of Harmony to put an end to Discord's reign.
-Luna succumbs to the "Nightmare", poses a threat to Equestria, and is then sent to the moon.
Cadence, atleast for now, is as confusing as Blueblood. I was told Ms. Faust explained Blueblood as being the decendant of a relative of the mother of the Alicorn Sisters. I personally saw him as a possible decendant of Princess Platinum until I learned of this. ( I think it would make sense for Celestia to wish to honor the bloodlines of the founders of Equestria by allowing their decendants to have royal titles.)
Who knows? Cadence may be a mutation, a distant relative like Blueblood, or Celestia's hiding something. xD

Luna and Celestia give alot of opportunitys to make a good backstory, and now we find out that there is and was alot more of alicorns and no info about tham.

You're welcomed! Luna's my favourite character of this show, so I tend to do alot of thinking about her past and how things may have happened. XD
As to their parents? I don't know, and frankly don't care to much. It's obvious their parents don't really play any importance in who they are now, so I don't bother to much. I actually like the thought of them growing up on their own alot more. It makes them seem more mature and that they truly earned what they got. Unlike most of the fandom, I like to think they aren't the rulers of Equestria because they inherited the titles from their paren't. But because the ponies recognized their good intentions during the reign of Discord so they where made the rulers by the ponies themselves. Though we know they atleast had a mother present in some point of their lives since Faust mentions her in referance to Blueblood's relation to them. I actually think this parent thing could be somewhat addressed if we actually saw the sisters interacting in the show.
We only know of one more alicorn, and she seems like a weird case. So I think the "godly" status of the Royal Sisters is left intact.

well at the time Faust also said that Luna and Celestia were the only 2 alicorns and that Celestia had no niece. Things change, especially since Faust is no longer with the show and the writers take liberties to change the entire shows continuity and Hasbro dictates what is and isn't true in the show. I'm going by what is SAID in the show because that is cannon not what someone explains outside the show and it is well said in the show episode "the Ticket Master" that Prince Blueblood is her NEPHEW, not her distant relative. because making him a great X 11 times nephew would mean that her sister had 10 generations of children and they would need to explain where the hell is all that family during this wedding since they basically would be Cadance's parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and so on.

This is getting on my nerve that there are no Luna in that episode. You're right about her. She is very loved (I do myself) and only was in 3 episodes. What a shame. I keep wondering why... but is it because she could steal the show? Hummm....
