Because bicycles are so Kanto. They ride dirt bikes in Unova.And the Darumaka are so plotting to steal that bike.
I wanted to draw something with a machine, I like machines, I try to avoid them at all costs because of how painful they are to draw. But they're so awesome. And we need more machines, that are not TR's lame robots, in Pokemon. Machines look so fail next to some Pokemon. Serperior can so constrict the crap out of that bike.

Truer words have never been said! They should totally have given you such a bike to ride in-game; why should the Biker trainer class have all the fun? XD
All the same, the pic as a whole is excellent. x3 I always did think Hilda's outfit looked rather biker-ish, and even her selection of Pokemon here looks startlingly apropos. I might wanna revise her team somewhat if my co-author and I ever get off our duffs and write again. xP

Thanks. I drew this with (what seems like) her concept art in mind. Her Pokemon, I've been picturing her with Serperior and Simipour for a while. But Emolga was added when I noticed there was no Pokemon on the bike.
And aw, that happens. I'm sure you'll get back to writing soon. XD

I know, right? As if they weren't already laughing at us for their various false bravado-based reasons ("Haha, you're some little kid while I'm a big nasty adult-- OH CRAP, YOU BEAT ME!". XD
You're welcome; the influence is quite clear, and works in the picture's favour. And yes, Serperior and Simipour fit her pretty nicely, even if I do also like picturing her with Emboar for the sake of the parallel with White. And as much as Emolga bothers me (blame it on Iris's Emolga...), it looks considerably more bearable with Hilda~
And yeah, it does...comes with the territory, I'm afraid. xD Thanks for the reassurance, though. ^^ I'm sure he'll get back to me sooner or later.

Emboar just fits her and Hilbert perfectly. But then there's Bianca having the fire pig. >_< In my mind Bianca chose Tepig because she was inspired by Hilbert's awesomness, and she just wanted to act in emulation of her highly impressionable friend. xD
So it leaves with Samurrott and Serperior. Samurrott seems more Cheren like since it's more fierce, wich leaves Serperior. And since I picture Hilda as being randomish I can see her work it out. Lol.
But in the end, I don't mind who each gets. XD

I know, right? Something as big and powerful and ostentatious as Emboar just fits Hilbert to a "T". ^^ And as for Hilda, I suppose it's kinda grandfather clause'd in by virtue of White's Tepig. And wow, really? That has to be the most awesome explanation for it I've ever heard. XD
(plus it makes Hilbert himself sound awesome, too~ x3)
Really? I pegged Cheren as the type to pick Oshawott too, but moreso because its blank expression reminded me of his relative stoicism. The fierce part works too, though; he's still pretty passionate about battling in-game. And randomness seems as good a justifier for Hilda having Serperior as any~
Oh, that's good! Because when DJ and I finally get our story out, you'll find that most of the starter choices are all topsy-turvy, due to me wanting to reduce redundancy as much as possible.

I totally understand wanting to reduce redundancy. My brother and I spent over a month deciding who should get what starter. And it took me like three more to come to the idea I have now. But I did originally picture Hilbert with Samurott, pretty much following the idea I have for Lucas having Infernape. All based on stupid Ash further stealing from them, not only their clothes, but their starter. XD

I figured you would. ^^ And that's good to hear; good ideas take time, after all! I originally wanted Hilbert with Emboar for the sake of lining up with Specialverse Black, for the same reason that I prefer Lucas with Torterra. It was just that my co-author's decision to make our Hilda's starter Tepig, coupled with the fact that Ash has all the starters, lead me to decide to cut my losses and just give Hilbert Oshawott on the condition that we make its personality really different from Ash's. Ash's thievery in those regards irritates me to no end, as I'm sure you know. One friend of mine remarked about him in DP, "He took Lucas' girl, his rival, his jacket, his Pokemon...basically his whole life, really!". While sadly true, it did give rise to a hilarious idea in my head of Ash as some kind of creeper usurper/stalker who steals people's lives and identities. XD

When you put it that way, wow. Lucas really has it bad. D: But! This is just further material for epic character development. Complete unknown breaking though and becoming the Champion on day.
Lol, my brother and I actually joked about the Ash stealing. Starting to blame his mom for going after the different boys, knocking them out and stealing their clothes. Lol.

Exactly! It just makes you wanna take the poor kid and make something amazing out of him even more. Which you clearly agree with. ^^ That's totally the approach I wanna go with if I ever fish my DP fic out of development hell; I really play up how Lucas is comparatively ordinary next to Dawn and Barry in terms of his lineage and such-- I mean, Dawn has a top Coordinator for a mom, and Barry has a Frontier Brain for a dad; what does Lucas have? A nondescript lab assistant who doesn't even have his own name. It stands to reason that Lucas would be the humble everyman of the group.
Oh my GOD, that is hilarious. XD I mean, it's also terrifying, but hilarious too. I will never look at Delia the same way again...

Lol at the lab assistant. Specially since I'd like to think of the blue haired lab assistant from the anime as his dad. XD Seriously, Lucas being the humblest of the three is the classic epicstory of nobody to somebody, just in Pokemon.

Indeed. And yeah, that's pretty much what I had in mind, too, assuming said lab assistant is the same as the guy standing to the left of Rowan's lab in-game who actually says he's Lucas' dad. As for his actual design, I think to myself that he'd probably look sorta like the Scientist trainer class, only you know, less sinister-looking. XD
But, yes, it is! It makes the perfect setup for him to undergo the classic hero's journey~ ^^

Oh, wait, I've only just realised who you're referring to...it's that Yuzo guy, right? Hm; I will say, there is quite a noticeable "family resemblance" between him and Lucas, lol...however, when trying to conceptualise what Lucas' father would be like, I didn't really have him in mind. I mostly thought of the nameless assistant from the game, and imagined him as a kind of working stiff-type. But that's just my crazy, random ideas. XD
