Description
I decided I wanted to try something new! I made a short story to go alongside the image, three point of views- only one victor.
Lihzahrd's POV:
A summer day of light in the sky, blanketing my scales with warmth and a sovereign feeling of entitlement- not many of us come up here, especially just for leisure time. *sighs* The clouds shifting in the sky, getting all comfortable- the breeze which shakes the leaves of the towering trees gives a sense of time flying by. I could be here forever if I could, but when that Jungle Dragon says it’s time to go- I will have to go. The smell of fresh air heightens my senses just as much as the smell of lime and- char-charcoal. My heart is plummeting, as the smell gets stronger and more defined. Where is it?! Why is it here? I was having a great time, uh oh. I pick myself up, glances left and right reveal nothing. What did the Jungle Dragon say again? Look- left, right. Oh! Look left, right, behind you and- up? Why up? There will be just leaves and trees- and I guess the sky and the sun too. Fine, fine, fine- I raise my head; I see something. Something I never wanted to encounter. A slick black body with four lime green wings flutters about, mimicking the blowing leaves and the bending branches as it sits on one. The slight adjustment of their long, razor sharp claws gives me a hint on what it wants. One foot after another in speedy repetition I’m rushing across a landscape not fit for a sprint on only two legs. I fall in front, using all my limbs, striding away from the terror of sharp shrapnel teeth and a non-gregarious grip. Their footsteps are getting closer, closer, almost close enough to grab me! I propel myself left, a sharp turn- but not as serrated as their teeth. HISSSS! It spouts in anger, as it has to recalibrate where I’m going. I yell “Nice try!” back at that grim reaper of a creature. It chitters back, an angry tone of clicking erupting out of its mouth, as it also sprints in my direction. Sounds of wing flaps are catching my ears, unlike the buzz or hum of four wings it’s definitely one set only. A familiar voice silences doubt: “KEEP ON RUNNING!” the dragon spat. Even though my lungs were swollen with red searing pain, and my legs aching from a marathon of speeding up and quick turns: I cannot stop. For when I stop, if I look back- all I will see is guts, my guts pouring out from the claws stealthy embrace to my flesh.
Plaguebringer’s POV:
The wind blows a blaring new, great smell of promise- a promise for aches to be alleviated. An earthy flavor, rich with taste, beautifully crimson blood- oh how long I have waited for one coming to the surface. If I am to catch one, I must be smart, I must be swift, and must kill swiftly enough that no one notices. My claws shred at the bark as I scale the tall trees for terrific hiding spots, one which is good enough for ambush- and one which is good for searching my target. I’ve caught wind, wind of the smell of underground treasures unfolding at the surface. What will it be like? The crunch of green scales between my teeth, the flavor only heard but never experienced. I’d like for them to live up to the stories, the stories of how they are absolutely terrified of us, the tales of cuisine aptly named: Gilded tasting Lizard. Oh, it’s laying there? Out in the open? Not even trying to hide its delicate flesh from view? You're just asking for me to jump down and shred up your tissue. Oh, now you've noticed me huh? Well, the taller they are; the harder they fall! Their eyes dart away and so do their legs, flapping down to the ground- I’m coming up to ‘greet’ them. This one’s mighty fast! That means their legs are going to be so tasty, I can just imagine it now- ok focus on the target and not the taste. *Gasp* Did they trip up? Oh yes! Come here, come here! Oooh, I’m going to scratch you up into savory ribbons! Oh. You did me dirty! You're sprinting on all fours now, flying across the scape without wings! Damn, I thought that was the perfect opportunity to get you. Speaking of you, where did you go?! HISSSS! Did I LOSE them! I briskly sniff out their path: they turned left. “Nice try” they mockingly spout. SCSCSCSCSCSC!!! C C C C C C C C! I WILL get you when you eventually slow down! The piercing breeze covering me as I run gets… warmer. “KEEP ON RUNNING!” the danger threatens. I gotta do it! I use up the momentum of the run and fling myself into the air- hoping to land on the Lihzahrd. Oh, please work! *Coughs* The wind becomes furious as the threat plows through the air and into me. I’m dead, aren’t I?
Jungle Dragon's POV:
I told the green creature that it’s dangerous up here, but no- they want to sun bask. In the OPEN! That’s just summoning bloodthirsty Plaguebringers- I might as well get them something and lead them on their way back to where it’s safe. Will a mango do? No, I don’t think they would like fruit. Capybara? Mmmmh, that might attract more danger. I guess I will settle for giving them my ration of my creamy chocolate. I pluck the mango off the tree, the noise scaring the large rodent enough for it to promptly begin dashing off. The walk back will be somewhat easy just a hop, a skip and a jump! But let’s not get lazy. I plow through bushes and grass alike, and find myself where- they were. Oh Great! Lime and Charcoal stains my nose. My gallop transitions into flying, as my eyes are scanning the jungle for either a bloody end or a nick in the time save. There! The two are at break-neck speeds, dashing aside trees and one is closing in. “KEEP ON RUNNING!” I declare. I’m diving, diving onto a sharp mess of spikes and death- hoping that it gives them enough time to escape. We collide, and it hurts me and makes the Plaguebringer cough as wind is torn asunder from their lungs. My hands grasp at the forearms of the Plaguebringer, making sure they can’t use those daggered tips on me. “You aren’t going to touch them, go back home before I have to raze you with furious fire.” I spat. They squiggle and wiggle no more. “I was looking forward to the taste! But- I’m better off alive than a stuffed corpse.” I drop them promptly, making sure they go the other way.
That's the end! Thank you for reading!
