Description
Often today, two groups with strongly opposed view points clash due to a lack of understanding. Constantly trying to one up each other, they spend more time trying to come up with a rebuttal than actually listening to what the other side has to say. When any big decision comes around, it is each view point’s job to defend their side of the argument at all costs, making both view points resistant to any idea, good or bad, that the opposed side has to offer. This piece illustrates a conflict between two opposing sides, each with a different path in mind. No progress is made as the conflicting viewpoints attempt to undermine each other and move ahead. They are locked in a perpetual war against each other, or so we are to believe. Why should either side back down? Isn’t it obvious that only one side is correct?
A lack of communication is often to blame. A true understanding of the opposite side is hard to achieve so long as the the war-like depiction between the two ideals is maintained. Unwilling to listen and understand, the two sides are doomed to battle each other, perhaps indefinitely. This is The Devil of Decision Making; it is where all progress stops, communication fails, and anger begins.
This ink drawing is a sort of play on words, and a play on vanishing points. While it is true that both view points travel in opposite directions, it is also true that they share something in common. On examining the cabins of each train, one may notice that they share a common vanishing point directly above the caboose. While the two groups may have dissimilar plans of action, their main goal is identical; they want only what is best for the collective group.
