I often complain to my husband that I'm haunted. He suggests it may be that I'm looking for it.

I have no idea what he's talking about.

I'm often complaining of feeling haunted. A darkness over the shoulder, a presence looming in the corners of any idle space.

I'm a deep DEEP believer of a world within a world. Our world then, being realistically riddled with spirits, powers, interim souls and destined angels fighting, dancing a long side of us. An inner world, I tell my husband I have an affinity for seeing.

Again and again I complain. Droning on about the dark presence, yet feeling special (not so secretly), that they've chosen to linger near me - no matter the agony and frustration they cause. My husband, in an opposing frustration, tells me he doesn't sense them.

"They're there!" I say.

He looks at me coolly to respond, "Well, I'm not out looking for them and I'm telling you, not a whisper over here."

It's hard not to sober to the shocking moment that follows when considering the life of my partner, a man whose existence swirls around and within my own, not finding himself oblivious to any presence - but rather they do not exist to him at all.

Would that be true for me....if only I were to stop looking?

Would that be any fun though?
