Pre Group History:
Kuwa was born in the center of a nomad pride in the western region of Africa. His mother, a common huntress, became pregnant shortly after his father, a rogue, took over her pride once the old ruler was defeated. Sharing many similarities with the lion that killed her father, Zalira was never too maternal to her son. The young cub had to be nursed by his grandmother, who was heavy with cubs of her own, since his mother could barely even look at him. As a youngster, Kuwa was desperate for attention and would insist on getting it anyway possible. Even when that meant being a nuisance to the huntresses, or annoying his father, or bullying the other cubs in the pride.

Once he became a teen and his mane started growing in, he started getting more and more aggressive and resentful towards his parents and the pride. He knew they all hated him, and he hated them just as much in return. His mane was barely half-grown when a group of nomads challenged his father for the throne and murdered him, leaving him to plead his mother and the other huntresses to do something, only to be ignored. He left, not before swearing he’d get revenge on all of them once he got a pride of his own and was strong enough to end them.
For months, he wandered the african plains in search for food and mates, barely scraping by on the first factor while the second, well.. He wasn't exactly successful when it came to any interaction with other lions. He did his best to survive, but it proved to be hard for an adolescent male with little to no hunting experience. More than once did he barely escape bigger lions with more than a scratch, especially when he tried to mingle with some king’s daughters or concubines.

After months of walking and barely surviving, Kuwa found himself wandering into the Ustamilivu territory and encountering the pride that lived there, who took him in despite his reluctance. He guessed being a subordinate to some stupid king would have to suffice now. At least he was no longer worried about starving, and well.. The females looked nice.

Infuriatingly impulsive and defiant, he gets in trouble with the authority often. He’s also a liar, manipulator and gets jealous easily. Despite this, he has a vulnerable and emotional side to him. He can also be considerate, easily flustered and selfless at times, mostly when it comes to people he has an attachment to. Its not easy getting to this status with him, however it isnt impossible either.

Kuwa has various issues, from being neglected by his parents as a cub and lashing out by becoming rebellious, to having trouble following established rules due to his stubbornness and impulse to doing what he wants. He also struggles with internalized homophobia regarding his attraction to other male lions, coming from a very traditional pride where the adults drilled the rejection of queerness and fragility into his head from a young age.
