this really shouldnt be the first piece i post with '06 on it, but i couldnt resist to share. its been a while i painted anything for personal funnness... and i used all the PINK i can possibly use for a whole year, so you shouldnt see too much candy coated color pallettes in my gallery^^.painterIX and PSCSII, with wacom

This is very cool, but I'm led to believe that the lower half is a photo for some reason... Did you use a reference? Because it's rather well done to the point that I believe that the lower half actually IS a photo, but I'm confident you wouldn't do such a thing.

that looks like a photo with camouflage and i really don't buy it. comparing the level of skills of the face (wich is just normal) to the level of skills of the wet clothes required to achieve such a perfect job, and it just looks pasted on your poorly rendered water. i'm sorry but i lost respect. it's too obvious and should be mentioned in the description that you painted over a photograph. removing my watch.

do you work all close up? or do you work as zoomed out as you possibly can so you can get a better perspective of the whole piece as it's taking shape?

i stay zoomed out as long as i feel canvas is well covered with rough but deliverate color and shapes. especially when i do something realistic, i tend to start off with small jpg then enlarge the canvas as i go along too. but once im comfortable with rough, i constantly zoom in and out (obsesively often) ctrl+ pr ctrl-

well, I asked because you know how when you stay zoomed in or when your working too close on a real painting, you tend to loose perspective of the entire piece. And then your piece ends up feeling dull and lifeless. It's a common mistake and trap from a lot of artist can fall into. You don't seem to do that, and it's remarkable the amount of detail you have it's just enough so you yourself don't have to be down there with a microscope doing every detail and getting lost with your own art ^^
