Description Latin language was world language in Roman Empire and some centuries after its fall. Nowadays it is used officially only by the Holy See and in some sciences. Computer translators mark Latin with various flags. Flag of the Vatican City , flag with Capitoline Wolf or simply flag with letters "LAT" are used. I rejected all this. For me the Latin flag was Roman vexilloid . However, it contains letters SPQR present in current CoA of Rome and Latin is bound neither to Rome, nor to Holy See. Thus SPQR and keys of St. Peter were refused and simpler design was wanted. Finally I mixed flag of Vatican with flag of Roman Republic (Napoleonic) to get yellow-white-red tricolor. These colors are used by Roman Empire, Holy See and current city of Rome . I know some of them use Italian, but Italian is marked by green-white-red, so no confusion occurs. Adding keys can explicitly symbolize Ecclesiastical Latin, but it is not necessary.
