This Damned Bride of Re-Animator T-Shirt
Well, after much thought and playing Sims 2 off and on, I've decided to move my Re-Animator OC Riana West from a certain fandom (I'm not mentioning said fandom anywhere is this description...for obvious reasons) and instead play with her in a full-on Lovecraftian setting (without most mention of said fandom omitted) In the process of "moving" Riana got a slight makeover, which was again brought on by Sims 2 as well as a suggestion *screamin-jazzy made to give her hair more green streaks.
I might still draw some art of her for the old fandom, and I still plan to make her into a doll (once I acquire the proper bait), but right now I'm just going to write up a more detailed back story from her (now that I'm listening to the original story in audio form, narrated by Jeffrey Combs himself). Most of it will remain the same though, she is still the (Re-Animated) daughter of Dr. Herbert West, she's still just as cocky and sarcastic as ever, and Carl Hill Jr. (above) is still her pet/assistant...much to hid chagrin and much to Riana's amusement.
In this form, Riana is a little older (about 18-19) so she can better blend in with the student body at Miskatonic University (She need not appear underage. That would just give her even more of an ego). Aside from that my original ideas and stories for her remain for the most part unchanged, and this art kind of proves it. I'm overall happy with the art, although I mucked up her left arm slightly...and I got her glasses a little crooked. I tried to fix them, but it was kind of in-vain since I have a shakey hand when it comes to my tablet).
I also did more shading and painting on this using SAI.

I might make some Riana West-themed short comics at some point...when I have the time. I probably just jinxed myself there. ^.^;

And Nooo, that's not Cthulhu. That's Kurt Thulhu, the son of Cthulhu who belongs to *screamin-jazzy .I also put Dr. West himself back there...albeit silhouetted out...since I was eyeballing the t-shirt design and all. I didn't want him being too much of an eyesore since Riana is supposed to be the focal point of the piece.

Well, it's not "natural" technically. In the Re-Animator canon, the "ReAgent" is a serum administered to the dead in order to...reanimate them. In the canon a hair side-effect isn't seen, but I figured under the unique circumstances in which Riana here was "born" it would work.

Well, this is more of an homage than it is fanart. Riana West there is my fan character and is kind of Dr. West's daughter. Herbert modeled her after "The Bride" but using his knowledge from prison along with his old notes to create her. The head at the top is her pet/assistant Carl Jr. who was named after Dr. Hill. Riana re-animated him herself and got the name from daddy's notes, and Daddy was not amused. ^.^;

She has a great face and she actually LOOKS like a person, I like her in this style ALLOT!
good flow through to the picture and the eye is really drawn to her face. just over all a very impressive piece.

Dude, thanks. I was worried the composition might be a bit off, and I tried really hard not to make her look 'stiff' (despite her being very dead), I just wish I hadn't messed up her left arm there. ^.^;
I'll most likely draw her in this style from now one since at some point I'd like to make a comic series featuring her 'adventures' in Arkham. Not sure if her dad should appear in the comic though and most of the stories ideas I think of come off sounding too much like Franken Fran. ^.^;
I hope I got the Kurt plushie okay. I didn't have any references for him when I drew this and had to rely on memory. ^.^;

there's some awkwardness but it seems to have been compersated for with the colouring so that to look you would not notice it unless you were REALLY disecting it, but I don't like to do that with pictures, I like to go for the initial impression and then let the story of the piece sink in...uh if that makes sense, rather than sit there going THIS IS ALL WANK! unless the WANK is the first thing that pops out and in this picture it is very much not the case.

Nah, I'd never cut off my own hands, although I coould see myself slashing one of my wrists and then smearing the blood all over a piece of poster board, then turning to my design teacher and saying "There! Non-Objective Art! Isn't it pretty!" But that would only happen if I had another nervous breakdown, and It's been almost a year since I had one of those...I'd like to keep it that way.
Yeah, but I still want some of the facts accurate to both the original story and the movies. It's those little details that makes it more plausible you know. I figure for the stories Herbert will be away on business (I figure after he got out of prison he blackmailed Dr. Graves and got his old job back), and the main stories will focus on Riana,Carl Jr. and her other experiments as they have misadventures around Arkham. Hell, maybe even Cthulhu could pop in for an appearance.

I was tempted to tear up my work at ne point, although it was my school work (the bullshit I was doing for a grade and only a grade) and not my "real" work.
Well, I mean some of the basic concepts, like in the one where Herbert injects the guy with a serum that preserves him at the moment of death. I'd like to use that somewhere. >.>;
I was thinking of doing a mini-comic that featured Herbert and how he built Riana though. I'm just scared to attempt to draw him. 'm also trying to decide when he acquired her head. ^.^;
I was thinking maybe Cthulhu would make an appearance in a dream, then Riana wakes up and says: "I had a dream and it inspired me! If the Elder Gods come and kill everyone, I can just re-animate everybody! Because I'm dead and immune! ^O^"

I've only seen "Herbert West Jr." and someone trying to make a "son" for Herbert West for the MH-fandom (which is just disappointing to me really, but I won't go too much into it), but neither oof them are re-animated like Riana here. I actually stole the colour palette from a "Bride of Re-Animator" t-shirt I found on Google (linked in description). I thought the bright neons would be a nice change of palette to work with. also ganked both Hebert's and Junior's poses from said shirt. ^.^;

Truth be told, when I went to draw the plushies I realized that I didn't have ANY references for Kurt or Mort and with no internet I couldn't look them up so I had to draw from memory. I hope I dod okay, and I hope Hiri approves of the Mort plushie. ^.^;

Well, the reboot won't be so bad. I've exacted all the Sims (including the in-game born kids I was worried about), now I need to figure out how to get their houses without opening the game and write all their stats down so their personalities will be intact upon recreation in-game.. ^.^;
