"At the age of sixteen, Forrest still couldn’t swim. Despite living out in the boonies and acquiring numerous outdoor skills, swimming was one he lacked. While not a skill Forrest worried about learning, his mindset changed when he received an invitation to a pool party. Forrest’s initial reaction was to conjure up an excuse, but when he got wind that his crush would be in attendance, the need to learn to swim became a need.

Being a teenage male and not knowing how to swim was an issue. Forrest felt embarrassed asking his parents or instructors to show him how to, so he decided to attend swimming lessons under a new identity.

Under the alias Harper, Forrest shaved his legs and purchased a one-piece swimming suit to attend lessons. Forrest had gone from a drowner to a strong swimmer over a few weeks, all thanks to his lessons, just in time for the party. He had improved so well that his instructor asked if he’d be willing to join the girls' female swimming league. Forrest had completed his initial goal, but a part of him enjoyed living the double life and being a competitive swimmer."
