The specific shades of the house colors you use are up to you. Although it is not necessary to use the exact shades used on the UG, please keep your choices close to canonical colors. We shouldn't have a Ravenclaw with a sky blue tie or a Gryffindor with vest borders so dark a red that they're nearly black, etc. Please see the Hogwarts Uniform Color Swatch for examples of acceptable colors.

Uniform Guidelines

Students must be in dress code on the application. If the student is not, you will be asked to fix this. If it is not, the application WILL BE DENIED. Uniforms must always be worn during lessons. Students may wear their own clothes outside their lessons in the common rooms/dormitories and around the school grounds.

Accessories (e.g. jewelry, small baubles) may be worn on top of the uniform.

The Hat. Optional. Black and pointed. May have a brim or no brim. No other hat type is acceptable with the uniform.

The Cloak. Black cloak with long sleeves of approximately ankle length. Bears a crest of the student's house. The inside lining must be of the student's house color. It is advised for students to also have a winter-weight cloak. Winter cloak must have silver cloak fasteners. Does not have to be included on app.

The Shirt. Students must wear a white button-up shirt with their uniform. Sleeves can be long, short, or 3/4-length. May not be sleeveless.

The Tie. Solid color or pinstriped, must be student's house color(s).

The Vest. Optional. Charcoal grey or black. Knitted v-neck jumper OR a cardigan OR a sleeveless jumper OR waistcoat. Cuffs and waist may be house-colored.

The Trousers (male uniform). Grey or black slacks. Jeans are not permitted, and leggings that look like pants cannot take the place of pants. Under no circumstances are students to have pants that are coloured or patterned.
*Kilts are allowed in place of slacks. However, they must be black or grey like dress pants would be. If you want your OC to show off their tartan colours, they can do it in their free time. Not during class and not in their app.
The Skirt (female uniform). Girls must wear charcoal-grey or black skirts. Skirts may be long or short in length, however, they may not be any shorter than 3" above the knee. Under no circumstances are students to have skirts that are coloured or patterned. Plain grey-to-black is the only acceptable color.

The Socks. Socks or tights may be worn. Any style, any color. Any patterns on tights must be school appropriate.

The Shoes. Any style, any color. Must have at least a backstrap.
Note: A student's uniform must reflect their gender. Transgender students may wear the uniform associated with their gender rather than their biological sex. If a student consider themselves 'genderfluid,' 'non-binary,' 'androgynous,' etc., then they must wear the uniform corresponding to the gender they were assigned at birth.
